Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
We in the Big XII will happily take your money as you descend into eventual irrelevance in the SEC, all because your eternal pissing match with UT - or, I'm sorry, "TU" - finally reached such a climax that you decided it was a good idea to drive yourself off a cliff as long as the Longhorns were in the car too. News flash - no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, the University of Texas will ALWAYS be the premier institution - athletic, academic, and otherwise - in the state of Texas. Deal with it. If you want to rip on me for being an ISU fan, do it, I've heard it all a million times, but then we'd all know what you'd really be doing... deflecting the conversation away from what it's really about (A&M).
Also, in light of all of the new facts I could not be less worried about the Big XII. The situation has changed dramatically. We will be fine, worst case scenario is replace A&M with BYU. And that is the worst outcome. Looking forward to a yell leader-less conference!
The Big XII at one time was THE conference for football and had great basketball and baseball as well. Now, Colorado, Nebraska and perhaps Texas A&M have all gone for greener pastures. The writing is on the wall for the conference, and the teams that have left plus teams like Missouri (whom you could even blame for the whole mess a few years ago) are starting to wonder where they will end up.
Yet all you can say is how wonderful it will be to have Brigham Young? Brigham Young? Come on, that's not even worth a Western Athletic admission at this point. BYU isn't going to bring in the bucks that Texas A&M were bringing, and it's going to be a challenge if BYU brings its entire athletic program. At this point, the Big XII would be just as good to bring in the likes of Southern Methodist...
Notre Dame is not going to the Big XII... I don't know who started that rumor, but why would that university go to a conference that would likely be third on its list? If the money runs out from the BCS and NBC, Notre Dame will be knocking on the Big Ten's door while having it's foot in the Big East's pie, and that's if the money runs out.
Maybe the Big XII can survive with non-marquee teams; I kinda hope it does. I wouldn't want it to see a complete downfall like the Southwestern Conference. I still would like to see the Aggies play the Longhorns every year, and perhaps the Bears and Red Raiders every once in a while, but now it's probably on to better things. Texas A&M is second to Texas in a lot of things (and that's an achievement considering how many great universities Texas has compared to smaller states). Now, the Aggies will have a chance to be first in the Southeastern Conference in a lot of things. I look forward to a possible move to the SEC, and I think the Aggies will actually find themselves competing for football titles in ten years time (which is indicative of how far things have fallen overall in the Big XII). They will also have the chance to do well in other sports as well, including basketball and baseball. Hopefully, both conferences will be better for the experience.
Hopefully.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Not to mention the little fact that Notre Dame goes to Los Angeles every other year at the end of November for their game with USC. Good luck getting either school to agree to move that.Comment

I don't think it's Missouri, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were begging to get in. Two to three years ago, Missouri thought it was more than possible for them to jump ship toward the Big Ten.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Big 12 is done for.
All teams should look at other conferences.
OU and OSU will be fine as I'd imagine any conference would love to get OU, and OSU gets to tag along with OU.
Texas will be fine because they can go independant now for all they care.
I have no idea what will become of Tech, Baylor, Kansas, K State, Missouri and Iowa State though.
The super conferences will probably start up soon.7 National Championships

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
And our friend Chip Brown chimes in with this little piece of information that A&M will be leaving the Big 12 tomorrow and will pay between 10 to 12 million plus forfeit all TV money this year. I know, I know his word is questionable at best.

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Texas A&M says it has not sent a letter of withdrawal to the Big 12 Conference.
The brief statement by school spokesman Jason Cook comes a day after The New York Times said in a story posted on its Web site Monday night that university President R. Bowen Loftin sent a letter to Missouri Chancellor and Big 12 board chairman Brady Deaton to inform the league it was leaving. The report cited two unidentified college officials with direct knowledge of the decision.
The university said Monday it had received a letter from Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe outlining the withdrawal procedure should the Aggies decide to leave the league.
The Aggies are interested in joining the Southeastern Conference. Last week they formally told Beebe they are exploring their options and asked for the conference to outline the process if they decide to leave.

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
I know at this point it's probably the best thing for Mizzou to find a more stable situation, but I would not be a fan of moving to the SEC. Again, I recognize the prestige and money factors, but I just do not care about any of the SEC schools. Playing against Mississippi State, Georgia, Alabama... just doesn't do anything for me. Big Ten has more schools that I'd be interested in playing against (Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan).
I'm hoping the Big 12 finds a way to survive. Too many good rivalries and ties that I'm vested in that would be blown away if this thing falls apart.Ryan Spencer

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
He indicated that A&M would be pursuing the SEC before they agreed to go back to the Big 12 after the revised television deal.
He also reported correctly that Nebraska and Colorado would be leaving and that Missouri basically started this mess by looking at the Big 10.
The only reason A&M is leaving is that they are annoyed about the LHN Network.
What exactly has he been wrong about?Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
The "Pac-16" was never a real possibility, because that conference would never grant UT the most favored nation status they enjoy in the Big XII. The UT admin used Chip Brown to put the threat out there in order to strongarm the remaining Big XII schools into agreeing to UT's desire to have it's own network.Comment
