Anyone else ever take a break from actually playing games and do a sim-only dynasty from time to time?
Anyway, I do, and decided to start at a one-star school with some decent talent on the roster...San Jose State. Thought I could sim and they'd go something like 7-5 or 8-4 in year one and I'd build from there. Surprisingly, we went 9-3 in year one, won our bowl game, and finished 10-3...and now they're a powerhouse. I kept telling myself after about year 5 or 6 I'm going to leave for a bigger school. Then I landed this stud freshman QB in my 2017 class (5*, think he was the #2 or #3 QB and started as an 80 OVR as a freshman) who started right away. I decided I was going to stay on a San Jose State until he graduated or went pro. Luckily he stayed all 4 years and won the Heisman as a senior. He passed for 4,270 yards, 46 TD, and 0 INT.
Then, that same off-season, I somehow landed Art Briles (level 46/maxed out) as my OC and Paul Rhoads (level 38/maxed out) as my DC and we took our MWC domination to another level. After going 12-0 in 2018, I had a hiccup in the MWC Championship Game against Boise State, who I had just beaten by 28 the last week of the regular season. However, that's my only conference loss since 2015 (6 seasons). Only took me 8 years to win a national championship, where I beat Alabama 41-31 in 2020 to cap off my first 14-0 season. I lost to UCLA in the national championship in 2017.
Anyway, here's my coach's stats through 8 seasons:
Level: 24 (slow progression)
Record: 97-14
Longest Win Streak: 15
Conference Championships: 5
National Championships: 1
Bowl Record: 5-3
Record vs. Top 25: 11-6
Record vs. Rivals: 16-4
Avg. Recruiting Class Rank: 48.00 (best was my 2020 class, #6)
COY Awards: 4
Heisman Winners: 1
Award Winners: 3
All-Americans: 14
And now I've taken the Stanford job. Stanford is 30-54 the last 7 seasons and down to 2-star prestige.
