Second season at Tulane sees us go 11-3, sadly we lost to Army in the conference championship but beat Eastern Michigan in the Little Caesar's bowl and were ranked 25 in the final poll.

On the flip side my Tulane team couldn't be playing any worse. After the Syracuse spanking we went to Memphis looking to regroup. They're a whopping 17 OVR points below us, so I expected a comfortable win.

Instead the Memphis BACKUP QB (a 68 ovr) set the team passing yards record with 474, in addition to 5 touchdowns, en route to a 38-31 upset. They literally only ran the ball 6 times (the HB had only 1 carry). And the CPU ran 4 verts like 5 times. Changes are coming to this football team.

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. My o-line's forgotten how to block, my defense couldn't stop paper blowing in the wind if it blew right into their faces. My center (yes, the CENTER) has already given up 6 sacks, and the defense has given up almost 50 pts a game, along with over 1300 passing yards already. My RBs have NO holes, my QB gets NO protection. My entire gameplan's about to change. Offensively AND defensively. Cuz 1-2 is shocking me right now.

Up next is Houston.

Sliders AND my playbooks. My new "Two Back" offense has gone horrendously wrong. And I still don't know what defense to roll with. I may take silver281gt's approach and run some Powerball. The power running game's about the only thing working right now.

Do the flex bone / wishbone offense schemes KSW. I also threw in Marylands scheme as well. Jus power ball it in my Texas St. Dynasty. Might change to it in my USC OD Dynasty as well. I threw in some PA also. I just recruit TE's, , HB's, and FB's. Then get one good WR to be my go to. I switch my TE's to WR's.

Ah your Tulane team sounds like my Defense lol. But all seriousness I started out good on defense this season but the last 2 games have been smashed. the 1st 5 games I had the #1 rush defense and # 100 pass Def. Now all of a sudden I have been gashed both by air and ground.

My defensive Playbook consists of only 4 Down lineman formations since I am not a fan of 3 man rush. I am going to roll with Stanford Playbook to try and get my ground game going.

A lil break down of my 1st 2 seasons.

3000 yrd passers 0
1000 yrd rusher 0 I have about 489 through 7 games right now.
1000 yrd receiver 1 / 1083 yrds

I think you should just go back to the Killer Option.

The Killer Option had kinda run its course. It got to where only the read option plays actually worked. So I morphed it into the Two Back (thinking it would be good). We'll see where that goes...

Anyway, created the Powerball offense today. Ace, I Form, Pistol and Shotgun. Mostly power running formations, since that's all that's worked up to this point. But some Spread to keep it interesting. Went to practice w/ the team this afternoon to see how it would hold up. So far it looks pretty good. This one seems to utilize the personnel better. After all, they say the great coaches play to their players' strengths.

Gonna see how it works against Houston tonight.

I know that you guys are having fun and everything, and it's your dynasty, but if you have any intentions of playing a "realistic" or "sim" football game you have to stop changing your playbooks.

Teams don't do that.

They don't go from running the option to being a power-I team to the air raid all in one season. Pick one and stick with it, even if it sucks. Maybe try using different players, pick different plays, etc. But I would recommend sticking with a playbook for a while before totally throwing it out the window and starting over midseason. No team really does that.

I think that it would solve some of your problems, too. It's hard to really get into a rhythm with your offense if you're switching to a different scheme every other week. Pick one and ride it out, find out what works. It'll force you to be creative and be a lot more realistic. Every offense has a way to get a bunch of different looks without scrapping it altogether.

Teams don't change their playbooks drastically, yes. But they do make changes when they see fit. No matter how large.

Me? I just took the plays in the old offense that worked and supplemented them. For example, I had a little I Form in my old book and the team seemed to run it well. I just added some more of that. Took out some Shotgun that I didn't really care for, and added more plays to the Pistol sets I really liked. It's still an Option base. We're gonna do some more traditional running plays but the concept's still the same.

I like to think of myself as a Bill Belichick of sorts. Always looking to mix things up. I do agree on the depth chart idea. I'm gonna play around with by RBs and offensive line. Try to find a better combo.

So I decided to start a UMass dynasty to get my draft classes straight when I go to do some more Madden. Opening game was against the Wisconsin Badgers, so I got strategy advice from my dachshunds and ended up with a 38-35 win thanks to a TD pass in the last minute. May need to tweak my sliders if I get similar results against Vandy and K State.

kswgrad2012 , I was wrong in my 2nd loss. It was at Hawaii.

Now on to the worse. Next up is at a 3-4 Nevada and you can guess where this is going. A little incite to my Def. # 104 pass def giving up 287 yrds / #1 rush def giving up 97 yrds. Ill start out on offense and turnovers killed me. I was running the ball nice and moving it but with 5 TO's I couldn't keep up. They gashed me for 300 yrds on the ground and another 200 through the air. Ended up falling to 5-3 losing 55-37.

I like this Stanford playbook so this is what Ill keep running. Next up Home game vs Buffalo.

Isn't that crazy. I don't mind getting beat. Just wish I could get some recruits in to help this defense out.

I need help on the Defensive side of the ball so That's all I am recruiting this season. No offense just defense.

Do you guys redshirt most of your players?

I probably redshirt something like 95% of all players, even when I'm finally at the top pulling in a couple of 5* recruits.

Those extra 3 or 4 (or sometimes 5 or 6) points that they gain to their overall ratings by redshirting works wonders for the team long-term.
