I never said anyone in this thread did in particular.......I did say that he would rather "Angry Joe who?" Than actual talk about the issues which he broached. To my former point, there are people who defend this game against any and all criticism. People aren't even asking Madden for anything earth shattering at this point. It would be nice if they could emulate things done 7yrs ago. Anyone denying that EA has a monopoly on licensed football games is in denial or doesn't understand the meaning of a monopoly which you don't.Comment

Lest all be honest Madden is a mediocre game and it getting pathetic by the minute. I don't know how people can call this game great or amazing. I mean they can't even get the sliders to work right, and they keep on taking more sliders out every year.If they didn't get scared and buy the license I honestly see them not even being around or in discussion today. I hope and pray the NFL doesn't renew the exclusive dealLast edited by Darth Aegis; 01-11-2014, 12:00 PM.OS needs a Thumbs DOWN button

Monopoly of licensed football games? There's no such thing. It's called exclusive licensing. Does the NFL not have the right to market and sell it's IP as it sees fit? Is it your contention the government should force the NFL to sell the license to all comers, despite it being their product? Should we also set the price for the NFL as well?
I despise the exclusive licensing agreement. I loved 2k, I had friends on the dev team, and some of my ideas made it in to 2k5, however I am also a believer that an entity such as the NFL is free to do with their IP as they see fit.
That's about what I figured.Last edited by bkrich83; 01-11-2014, 12:41 PM.Comment

The issues he brought up have been discusseed ad nauseum here. We should discuss them more because some guy on the internet made a review? Should we have a new thread everytime someone on Youtube posts a Madden review? The issue wasn't even his points, most of which nobody here disagrees with. That's the problem, you're so anxious to criticize all things EA, you simply miss the point.

Keep ranting and screaming monopoly though. It's super productive. I am out, I've got stuff to do, and this argument has been ongoing for 7 years. Nothing's changed. 2k is not getting back in to the game soon, or maybe ever even if the license is opened up, from what I understand. The damage has been done. EA, the NFL and the Collegiate Licensing agency essentially killed football games for anyone else.
2k returned the favor for baseball games, not on Sony Consoles. Sports gaming has turned the wrong direction, and exclusive licensing was a major factor.Last edited by bkrich83; 01-11-2014, 12:58 PM.Comment

Settled out of court? Yeah?

Ranting? Merely proving a point - I was against the lawsuit to begin with and never submitted a claim...Comment

Read up on what a monopoly is please, TY:

I understand what a monopoly is, and it doesn't apply to the NFL license.Comment

Re: Angry Joe put Madden (next gen) on list of 10 worst games of 2013
Because IMO EA priced Madden in relation to other newly released games. Though it appears the court was to decide that the exclusive license agreement was used to secure the higher price in relation to 2K's lower priced NFL game. So it turns out it was a form of recognized monopoly of product price, and not to do with monopoly of a football product itself..Comment

IIRC, if there was a NFL 2k6, it was going to go back to the original price point, as VC had accomplished their mission of getting more people to play it.Comment

Re: Angry Joe put Madden (next gen) on list of 10 worst games of 2013
I get it. What's lost is, I believe it was never VC's intend to keep the 19.99 price tag on their football game permanently. That was a move to get more people to purchase 2k5.. The way it was told to me, VC at the time was so confident in their game, they figured if they could get it in to peoples hands more people would realize how good the game really was and it would then compete with Madden annually.

Maybe if 2k didn't have the price drop, things would have been different?Comment

Re: Angry Joe put Madden (next gen) on list of 10 worst games of 2013
I dont know who Angry Joe is, I dont care wo Angry Joe is! That being said, his review was imo completely on base. When you look at what EA produced, compared to what they Advertised, it spells out one thing, FRAUD. When it comes to Madden Football, EA is a complete FRAUD. When you cant be upfront and honest to your supporters about the product that your putting out, something is really wrong with that, and it speaks volumes to the fact that EA cold care less about Madden game players. 25 years ive purchased this game. Im a freakin idiot.Comment

Re: Angry Joe put Madden (next gen) on list of 10 worst games of 2013
That possibility, of annual competition, would seem to be a great motivator for EA to grab the license and lock out the competition from producing an NFL game..Yes, a football game could have been produced, and still can, but I think most would agree, they want the actual teams and players, yes? It would seem that since 2k8 football, other companies agree that there is no way to compete with Madden without an NFL license.
Maybe if 2k didn't have the price drop, things would have been different?
Ultimately for many reasons, I believe the price drop was a major factor. There clearly were other factors as well, but ultimately I believe the price drop may have been the death knell for 2k football, despite it being a brilliant strategy.Comment
