IF the gameplay is good enough, can it make up for what CFM appears to be lacking?

Re: IF the gameplay is good enough, can it make up for what CFM appears to be lacking

If the Presentation and CFM are what they are, I might have to skip this year as well even though in the end I'll probably cave, the CFM is what keeps you playing hours at a time. The game play is always important but it's really, really good. It doesn't need to refined drastically like the updates needed for CFM. The CFM has been neglected for far too long and quite frankly when the owner mode of 10 years ago was better on a system two generations old than what they are offering today, this is A SERIOUS PROBLEM. Enough is enough, EA is extremely lucky to be the only developer to offer a football title because how they've gone about this CFM, if there was another football game, I wouldn't be surprise if more than half of the customer base would jump ship. Like I said before, it's a serious problem and I just hope if there is anyone here who can pass this sentiment to the decision makers of the game, they would in my eyes be doing a great service to the Madden Community but also EA, because there will be a day when the exclusivity runs out it might be in the distant future but it will come and when that happens, this neglect for the progress of CFM will severely hurt any brand loyalty from Madden's customer base that EA has enjoyed.

5/10? Compared to what, real life? Your definitely not comparing it to any sports games if you say 5/10. It's around 8.5-9 for me.

I've been impressed with the gameplay I've seen in the videos so far. They appear to show that the developers really have worked on cutting out the cheese plays and QBs don't complete every pass.

My main issue with CFM is the lack of contract options, waivers, compensatory picks. CFM's focus needs to be on the challenge of managing an NFL roster, not just playing a sequence of games.

Re: IF the gameplay is good enough, can it make up for what CFM appears to be lacking

I'm in the same boat as many others. They are both important, and if one is disappointing I probably will not buy or will quickly return the game.

While I fully realize there are a lot of players outside of these forums who play Madden casually, when I peruse online forums in regards to Madden I rarely EVER see their voices represented. I see a lot of people here who are very fatigued by the lack of quality in CFM. Gameplay is VERY important to me, I want to have fun playing a game of football. I want it to be fleshed out, mostly accurate, and fun when I pick up the controller. I want to feel in control, and in charge of my gameplan against an opponent. I want the AI to be smart without reading my mind constantly, and I want risks/rewards to be levied appropriately. I have really enjoyed what I've seen of gameplay improvements in M16 thus far.

But when I realize that when I start a CFM I only play about 4-5 games of the 16 game season because I'm heavily invested in the CFM options and modes (this is how I am with every sports game, I play 10 or so basketball games in an 82 game season for NBA, etc.) I want those CFM options to be ROBUST.

I want CFM to be detailed, with an almost overwhelming number of features at my disposal. I want to be able to edit those incoming draft classes because HOLY CRAP my league has nothing but 50 OVR punters. I want to be able to get compensation for my restricted FA's who get a huge contract offer that I can't match. I want the ability to call up that promising kid on my practice squad and see if he's got the ability to supplant an aging veteran. I want fleshed out scouting that isn't just an afterthought or a novelty that the game developers want to streamline for simplicity. I want STATISTICS that are believable. Not league leaders who average 8 sacks a year. I want historical data, like Super Bowl winners and MVP's. I want coaching carousels that mean something (the AI will adapt their drafting strategy or FA strategy based on their head coach's styles).

So when I put all this in perspective, I realize that I care more about the CFM than I do the gameplay by a small degree.

To me the universal experience as a whole is crucial. If I have fun playing the actual game but CFM is lackluster, I can play Play Now to get the same experience and then trade the game back in within a month or two because I'm now fully bored. If CFM is stocked with options, features, and customization then I can buy the game and invest almost 12 full months in playing that game because it keeps me entranced in its immersive world.

So before E3 I started this thread and I'm just curious, has anyone's opinion on this matter changed since you've seen some Madden 16 gameplay footage? Trying to find out if anyone wasn't going to get the game and now plans to, or if you were but now have decided not to.

I like what I see from gameplay, and I'm convinced next year's CFM may have more what guys are looking for giving what Kolbe said in that interview. But with that said, gameplay shouldn't have to make up for what lacks in CFM and what's been lacking. I'm buying the game, but man there are some stuff we need in this mode.

After news of the small improvements to CFM came out I was a firm "no buy". However, the E3 game play, blogs and interviews have definitely impressed me so far.

I still don't think it's enough to make me a Day One Buyer like I have in the past. The reasons being
                    A) I need to see that the game play we're seeing now makes it to Gold.
                    B) Although I have played and enjoyed online leagues in the past, I would much rather be an offline gamer and I don't know if the CPU will have the A.I. or competitiveness to give me a good offline experience. And I certainly know that CFM doesn't have the depth or personality too. So the first two have to be there in order to keep me playing the game more than a month.

Basically, what I'm saying is I'm in wait and see mode. If I see good game play, and CFM (with CPU making logical moves) impressions, then I won't be able to hold off very long.

It went to a buy because it's football and Madden to a must buy and I can't wait. I can enjoy CFM for what it is and gameplay makes it even sweeter.

I have definitely changed my Madden plans after E3. After the initial CFM news was released, I was very disappointed and with Madden and was considering not buying it this year, certainly not on release day. But, after watching all the E3 gameplay videos and interviews, my opinion has been swayed.

The gameplay has seemed very impressive, and I love the addition of WR/DB interactions. I am not too worried about the aggressive catch being too overpowered, as I am primarily an offline CFM player, and I am most excited for working penalties. Finally! Also, something that seems to have been overlooked a bit, but in one of the videos, one of the dev mentioned about gang tackles, and solo/assisted tackles and full/half sacks actually registering correctly. We will have to wait and see if this is true or not, but if so, that will be a HUGE addition to CFM mode (even though it should already be in the game).

Lastly, I think Draft Champions looks like an interesting mode, which I may use to get used to the game before settling into CFM. Its an interesting concept, which seems to work well, and gives players many options on how to build a team. I doubt I will sink days/weeks into it like I will my Cowboys CFM, but if I will definitely try out the mode, which is more than I can say than when I first heard the news.

Now, I only have two months to finish the Witcher 3 before Madden 16. Cannot wait!

Need to see substantial game play. User vs User, User vs CPU. I think this is a step in the right direction, but seeing bits and pieces still makes me hesitant. Really want to see some video of scouting and drafting in CFM, preferably with multiple users to get a feel for that. Gameplay is key, but off-season depth is king for a CFM guy like myself.

I've made some awful gameplay work before, looks like that might not be a issue this year.

I was always going to buy it. Question was when I would get it.
Figured I'd just get at launch since I'm only paying 48.

Now however while I am not going to be doing a mad search to get early, I am contacting 1 person to see about it once we get closer.
