Would you consider that a good ratio or not, just curious.

After watching the developers play on All-Pro it didn't seem to be OP'd.
I saw some of the best db/WR interactions, tackling, and qb cpu a.i. that I've ever seen in Madden. And I go back to the "Sega Gen" lol.

Thanks EA/Tiburon for the pre release gameplay stream! Can't wait to get my new system and game!

Re: Madden 16: Is the new Aggressive Catch overpowered?

If you leave Dez, Megatron, or Gronk in 1 on 1, then you should be susceptible to getting burned by "aggressive catches"!!!

Learn to double, to user help with safeties, to highlight threats.

The last thing I want to see EA do is tune this before I even get the game. This whole whiney cry baby reaction reminds me so much of the old Moss breaks the game crap that lead EA to so drastically reduce the effectiveness of deep passes that people had to "rocket catch" or face catch to ever complete deep passes.

If it is over powered, the answer should be to tune in more drops, more aggressive CPU controlled DBs, both on CPU and user teams and maybe a higher success rate for swat attempts if that button is still in the game.

Truthfully, players that I have seen in videos making spectacular catches are the players I would expect to make those kinds of plays and I don't want to go back to last year's pathetic deep passing game, or even worse.

EA has a history of not balancing their "fixes", so be careful what you ask for. You need look no further than player movement, which honestly is still horrendous because people whined and cried about too much cutting ability, so for M15 only power backs were worth a dang, because even a 99 AGI, 99 ACC, 99 ELU RB was so difficult to change direction that it made me wanna scream.

Now years previous "zig zag" running was an issue, fair complaint, however rather than fix this with a viable set of cutting and foot-planting animations EA just decided that the greatest athletes in the world should no longer be able to change directions at all with anything resembling grace and agility. And why, because EA can't figure out how to get more than one player at a time to use their foot-planting tech...

Re: Madden 16: Is the new Aggressive Catch overpowered?

I played it today and aggressive catch on All Pro is definitely NOT over powered in any way. I only completed one AC to AJ Green the whole game. The others I tried were broken up or knocked down. Those were deep bombs using the high pass mechanic. There was even one that AJ caught high up and Haden got his arm in between AJ's arms and tipped it out at the last moment.

If you play H2H I'm not sure what to tell you except learn to defend it. Don't we want Elite players to feel elite? Haven't we complained about that and how WR's never "went after the ball"? There's a trade off there.

I'll admit I need to play more but try it before you knock it. If we all play it for a few weeks and it becomes an issue, then I understand the objections. But don't drive EA to make changes based upon videos you've seen without any frame of reference.

My two cents? EA, don't change a thing for now. Let the dust settle instead of listening to the overreaction. Love it so far.

The dbs and linebackers started teeing off on me when i tried aggressive catching.

              Keep that in mind.

With that being said, I'd like to be 100% clear that I'm not on either side of this debate. Haven't played the game yet.

Just reminding everyone that the game will be tuned throughout the season. I'm hoping it is to the extent that is needed.

Well.. They had concrete data about the sack issue last year. Did they mean tuning adjustments for next years release?

The down by contact issue is still there on aggressive catches.

Is it over powered you ask? Not really..

I have EA access and I have played a few games against users and the CPU and you do get beat from a few of the aggressive catches (as well as beat your opponents l) but its not a constant thing.

More often than not, the receiver just cant make the catch, however the more defensive backs there are on a guy the least likely he will make that aggressive catch.

RG highlighted in the live stream that you can double team a receiver on the fly.

If it wasn't for OBJ making that ridiculous 3 finger catch. I'd bet my house we wouldn't have this "feature" in the game. After watching the stream I have my doubts on this game.

After playing the CPU and a couple of users it doesn't seem OP to me.

On All pro it was closer to being OP but, on AM I had trouble completing any jump balls with Dez Bryant. That was the user v user game I played in a test CFM.

We both struggled to move the ball. Everything was default AM

yep. the day that catch happened I was sure what the big "feature" would be in this year's madden

for once, I'd love them to add a "we fixed all the problems in franchise that were there when we first put in this CCM". that would be great. I could actually play for 4-5 seasons and not have a league full of high speed rookies with bad equipment. I guess its better than M25 when most draft classes had corners with 80-85 speed. its that kind of stuff that people haven't even had time to find yet that is going to be the big let down.

I dunno if you come back to read responses but the official livestream today was extremely enlightening. I spent all day watching different streams and I'm convinced at this point that it isn't overpowered offline.

My concern however is MUT online and Draft Champions online, as this is 90% of what I'll play. I still haven't seen the conclusive evidence that human players won't abuse this constantly with high success rates.

But like you said in the stream, I'll give the game a week when it comes out and really test it out. Also like you mentioned on stream, I hope you guys get a quick tuner update out if the metrics determine that they are too successful, compared to real life results.

watching streams yesterday, and with testing... Aggressive catches are OP on go routes. We saw guys completing more than 30% of their go routes down the field... which is ridiculous

Played around 10 games with league members last night, 1 of them with 12 minute quarters. In total i saw maybe 6 or 7 completed aggressive catches on default sliders, as of this moment from my own experience i would say it's not op.

On how many thrown? Completion % more important than raw number.

That said, I spent this morning tweaking some sliders, and I completely walk back what I said yesterday. While it's horribly OP on default all pro sliders, all madden + tweaked sliders led to almost no covered aggressive catches, which is probably closer to how it should be. Probably made pass defense too good with the sliders, but at least it's a fixable problem.
