Re: Is The New Aggressive Catch Overpowered? (Possible Tweak Coming In Tuning Update?

Still can't tell whether or not this is balanced. In my first CFM game against the Giants, I held ODB to 3 total catches and didn't see one fight for the ball the entire game by either the Cowboys or the Giants.

Next at Philadelphia was a little over the top. Nelson Agholor makes the ODB catch with Scandrick, Barry Church, and Claiborne draped all over him. Later in the game Riley Cooper makes a one handed against Barry Church, and finally Miles Austin makes another. FWIW, Dez Bryant didn't make any. If anything, he dropped more passes than he caught.

Not sure if it needs to be tuned or if lowering a WR Catch slider would help, but I need to play more games because at this point from all of the games I played the Eagles game may just be an outlier.

if you want control of your player like most do then yea i expect a fat lineman to attempt an aggressive catch if i press the button. Do I expect him to catch passes doing so? NO but i want to be able to attempt it if I feel like it.

You cannot say you are controlling a player if just because is an lineman you cannot do an aggressive catch. Ratings should matter at the outcome of said attempt.

If that is to be the case then remove the feature all together.

I prefer to let myself decide what type of catch I am going to perform and the ratings determine the outcome. Not the ratings decide the animation for me

Unless I am not controlling receiver when ball is in the air

Cant ask EA to take away the control from the user. After all we are playing a game

I play All Madden with slider tweaks and there is no over power of the aggressive catch. All Madden plays extremely realistic this year

No I don't believe it is overpowered in the 20 or so games I've played so far but yes I do think we're seeing too many one handed catches ala Odell...

With that being said, I am more than happy with the fact that the receivers are attacking the ball now and not acting like past Maddens where they just watch it get intercepted.

I don't think it's OP at all. I see the great WR's make some nice catches but I also see them drop some as well. Hopefully they don't completely nerf it in the upcoming tuning update.

The one handed catch animation may be triggering a little too often but the overall catch/drop rate feels right.

Nope! Leave well enough alone it's definitely not over powered..

It's overpowered, kids online just throw it up in double coverage to Gronkowski every play. Its sad

Re: Is The New Aggressive Catch Overpowered? (Possible Tweak Coming In Tuning Update?

Initially throughout my first 2-3 games playing online H2H I thought that the aggressive catch was overpowered but after a little more exposure and understanding the DB mechanics I feel there is a good balance. Definite changes from last year on defense as you have to gameplan for great WR's like Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant etc. but I haven't been really torched by average receivers.

I do agree that the one-handed catch animation is appearing a little too often. My biggest gripe is actually in regards to the safeties not reacting to deep routes as they should. For anyone interested the most success I've had defending the aggressive catch is by adjusting the coverage to "overtop" (Y then right stick up on the Xbox One if I recall correctly). In addition when the ball is in the air I've had the most success holding "A" which is play the receiver.

I think it depends on the WR, but overall no it's not. In Draft Champions I have Megatron and I can throw bombs with Elway nonetheless and do it all day but I have had some passes broken up as well as completed some.

I think it's overpowered on the lower difficulty settings. On All-Madden it is not - I threw three picks in my last game that came on tipped aggressive catch attempts. The encouraging thing is that your success rate is much different depending on the QB and WR.

Am I the only one who hates that you hold the button down now, rather than having to time your catch correctly? This takes away some of the stick skill, which in turn may cause it to be much easier to catch than it should be.

It doesn't seem overpowered to me. Now admittedly I play the Bills mostly and their defense is elite, but I've only given up a total of 27 points in 4 games. Guys have been bombing it on me repeatedly to guys like Antonio Brown, Alshon Jeffrey, and DeMaryius Thomas with middling results.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

I've pretty much turned Colin Kaepernick to Anquan Boldin into a premiere duo taking shots down the field. I feel that's kinda OP myself.
