Re: EA you guys made an AWESOME game. Please don't cave in to the complainers
Yes and they way to do that is build the game with realism in mind...and then you add the sliders which will then be used to make it more arcade.
Madden 16 is a good example....offline play for me on play now is quite sim based, but if you want to make it arcade foot ball it's pretty simple.
turn down pass coverage
turn up fumbles/interceptions to add excitement
Turn up qb accuracy
turn up run blocking
turn up wr catch
and voila, you will have yourselves a shootout nearly every game with game changing turnovers, big tackles, interceptions as your defensive tools.
This is how NBA 2k approaches their games....base it on realism but propoer sliders can alter the experience according to user demand.
For the past 10 years, madden has catered to the arcade crowd....it's finally this year that sim players can really get deep into the gameplay.

I actually agree with you I just do not want it to become like MLB the show and only cater to sim people which is kind of why I don't know whether or not I like one of the people who worked on MLB the show working on madden.

The problem is when the game caters only to sim players and doesn't allow people to customize the game experience so we can play how WE want not how somebody else wants. With MLB the show the sliders and ratings are useless so it really only caters to sim players. People need to get it through their damn heads that NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO PLAY THE SAME WAY AS YOU. I don't understand why that is such a hard concept to grasp. By the way I like madden how it is so am not saying change it or anything I am just saying respect other people's playing styles.

Well, I don't have the game (small sample size at buddies house), so you have me beaten there.
But isn't the confidence/in game goals an issue they also said wait to start a CFM? Where every player on a team was nearing 99 as confidence went over 100 and some players then seemed to then go down to really low attribute ratings? I saw screen shots of this on OS. I didn't look for this particular thing at my buddies house.
It's not ideal but not a game breaker for me personally. I've had fun with it, and the bottom line is that's all I care about.Comment

I am 4 games in and it happened once qnd it was during a blow out. I chalk that up to a game getting out of hand, which happens. And to be honest the impact wasn't that dramatic, although with such a lead I also called a pretty conservative game at that point. To be honest if I didn't know about the bug enough to look for it, i wouldn't have known it even happened.

I disagree. This impact the gameplay a lot. I was a low rated qb and I had boost over 15 on medium and shirt accuracy. I didn't miss a single pass. They AI couldn't run the ball. If you get 10 or 17 lead. Game over its get easier and easier. The only time I don't have issues is when ip the game is even.
I stopped playing cam until the patch is releases. 10 or more rating boost is crazy.
Meanwhile I keep playing play now games. And those are PERFECT. I wish cfm plays like this.

This really gets into an interesting theoretical ideological debate. I have been playing video games for a LONG time (yes, I am old. Lol). I played the original madden years ago. And, we've all heard the story (maybe), that John Madden himself pushed the dev team to go for 11 on 11 football because he wanted sim. imo, madden has always 'tried' to be sim, they just failed miserably at it. U could actually argue that tecmo bowl 'tried' to create a sim game. Any game that tries to replicate a true sport on the field is trying to create a sim of that game. They should want the game to replicate what we see on the field, court, etc. u ever play 'double dribble' back in the day? That was a sim game, imo, but man oh man, it didn't really 'play' like the nba. Games like madden and nfl game day, and even nfl 2k (which always felt like sim) all suffered from some 'arcade-ness' because of lack of hardware processing power, or lack of quality development. But, all of these games were trying for a sim of a sport. Now, u take a game like 'NFL blitz' or 'NBA Jam', and we all know immediately that THESE are arcade games. Lol. But, I am also in agreement with u that sliders can create the best of both worlds NOW. Back in the day, there were no sliders and a game had to be as sim as it could be (madden failed miserably at this). But, now, with processing power and devs choosing to give some control to the user to manipulate the game, we can all be happy (maybe. Lol). What madden and really all sports games need to start doing is creating this online as well. They really should have 2 completely different playlists. Sim and arcade, but madden would technically have to determine what the arcade sliders would look like to make things work the same for all arcade players. A sim playlist for football could even lock out going for it on 4th and more than 2-3 yds from your own side of the field to keep those cheesy arcade players from infiltrating the sim playlist. Lol.

Re: EA you guys made an AWESOME game. Please don't cave in to the complainers
Its hardly caving in to say this game still has a hell of a long ways to go because some can argue this is the gameplay we should have had halfway through the last gen's cycle! Gameplay is better than ever, great, now I want some adaptive AI. I want to see players interacting in unique ways to differing situations based on gameplans, traits, and context. You all don't get it: we should ALREADY be there.....in 2015......on yet another generation of consoles. Yet again, this series has failed to keep pace with advancing technology so yet again its gotta play catch up. We finally have wr's and db's affecting each other in believable ways and other long needed improvements, now lets really, REALLY, take this game into the *** **** next generation already and that goes well beyond gameplay..Comment

Ok buckeyebrown...
1) How is the game played in real life in which EA tries to imitate?
2) Nobody cares for your type of gameplay, your like the "thugs" of Madden so to speak.
3) Play it like that offline or make a room where u and your friends can play like that so yiu are not ruining someone else fun.
Its annoying to even fathom that this is thought of as a legit way of playing football, its like some crap you would do as a kid who doesnt have a full understanding of the game they are playing.
No one wants to play against that, its pathetic and shows nothing but desperation to win by defying all football logic and knowledge. Plus i love to compete but this type of gameplay killed what could have been the biggest Esport game ever because yall wanna play gimmick glitch ball when everyone else is looking to play football like they played or see played on Sunday's. Cheating is not a strategy bruh, go fire up that ps2 and find you a copy of NFL blitz or something.Comment

Re: EA you guys made an AWESOME game. Please don't cave in to the complainers
I can 100% honestly say that this is one of the best Maddens I've ever played, and I've been playing since Madden 2005.
The run game is magnificent, the movement feels realistic, the A.I. plays the way they should. Just an amazing job with this one man. The ONLY thing I would want changed if changes to happen, would be to tone down the aggressive catching a tad bit.....especially for receivers who do not have high ratings.
The way the defense plays is excellent and it requires a lot of patience and strategy to play defense this year. The way it should be. I'm saying this as a person who plays mostly online. I've put in over 50 online H2H games so far(MUT & Ranked) and the game plays great in those arenas too.
I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about the lack of defense or the player movement or OP catches. Do not cave in EA. Do not end up like 2K who brought out a final patch that destroyed a really good game in NBA 2K15.
You guys are winning right now. People will complain until they learn how to properly play the game. Lots of the top guys in MUT last year can't stand the game this year. That's ok. They will live.
Madden 16 could possibly go down as the greatest Madden ever if you guys stand your ground and only tune what REALLLLLLLY needs to be tuned.
I personally don't mind if the gameplay logic is not totally perfect..all we ever wanted was working sliders that worked enough to allow us to fine tune to our own desires and finally the sliders work enough to work out any of my personal grips and seems others feel the same...I am more interested in giving advice to the presentation and atmosphere portions of Madden that needs improvement for next year.
So Yes while a big improvement and truly fun to play finally ..its not perfect but we are not asking for perfection but rather filling in some of the voids still left in Madden. I do want to see the animations that link together and finally link out to that last animation of the player jogging back to the huddle more natural and fluid with more varied jogging animations...see this is one of the things I've always tried to convince the devs in improving on..more variation of everything, period..that's it..repetitiveness of any thing in the game is bad bad bad...don't get me wrong though...Madden dev's really added a lot of more varied animations but there still needs to be a lot more varied animations, commentary segments, etc .and they ALL need to come off a bit smoother, more natural.
Some suggestions for the Developers of any GameChanger guys to pass on to the dev's for us.
1. A half time show, even a pre-game show on big games only..but for halftime put in a real legit half-time show with footage of other game highlights...heck..just rip it off from 2k5 but you guys won't need to feel that way...because this is what WE SEE when we watch NFL games on TV...Madden needs this bigtime. I remember how it never got old and i mean NEVER got old playing 2k5 and taking that 3 minute break at half time to watch 2k5 sift through other league games going on with footage of big plays from these other games going on...it was great man, I KNOW I can speak for others here on this. This never gets old, trust us. ------ Oh by the way, Since dev's tossed out the rendered pre-game of Simms and Nantz...but how about putting the pre-game back but this time not render Simms and Nantz but rather record them on video and pop that in for a pre-game shows, It would rock, why you guys didn't do this from get go is baffling. Don't take away presentation...but improve on it. It's not good to take away but rather improve..even if it means scrapping it and starting all over with it.
2. Get those animations seamed up better from ..example...before and after the whistle...these various animations are great but there is decent handful that need to redone and smoothed out... they need to be refined to flow better more naturally, better jogging animations with more variety, etc, etc and smooth these linked animation sequences to get that "natural" feel...dev's are getting closer to getting this down pat..We need more fluidity in QB animations when walking up behind the center right before the snap..Well better natural flowing animations of ALL players lining up at the scrimmage line...more varied pre-snap animations..just keep on adding more and more and making them more smoother as you go.
3. Get the color play-by-play commentary more exciting .this does not necessarily mean in a louder voice but just add more natural flow to the commentary and really put some good hours into this area by adding a ton of variety just like how a ton of variety for cutscenes, etc is important..same is true to commentary...We like some of the stat discussion of players and teams by Simms and Nantz but there needs a lot more work done with the overall presentation of commentary.
4. Audio - Get the sounds of violent impacts, grunting, groans and tumbling sounds louder, this needs to be amplified not to an over exaggerated way but more amplified to the point where these clashes and impacts have a real impact on the guy playing the game..its one of those things that can be amplified a bit above what we may actually hear watching a real NFL game because the game has to give off a sense of feeling to the person playing the game. I know 2k5 is dated but they were heading in the right direction way before any other dev studios were doing it by amplifying the sounds of tackles and big linemen clashing...I feel Madden really could add some serious gridiron feel to this game by just adding more various sounds of impacts,tackles,etc...for some reason it just makes tackling more fun to hear the impacts and the grunts and moans. Expand sound with the sideline players ..let us hear a lot of varied trash talking and players getting hyped up when a team starts coming back or closing the gap of the score but MAKE SURE you add enough variety so it don't get repetitive, remember repetitiveness will ruin the entire point having it there to begin with. Like i just mentioned above, this sound thing, its so crucial to adding another layer of excitement, its like a phenomenon, it has the same kind of impact that the new tackling Madden 16 has this year, it's one of the things i been pressing on for years in here for the Dev's to improve on and finally they realized it needed a whole new face-lift and it paid dividends too!..the new tackling animations has made a remarkable impact on the overall fun and excitement. See how the new tackling made this game so much more fun? Better on-field sound will have a similar impact to the overall feel of the game, trust me.
5. I just want to end my suggestions like this. Some other guy in here mentioned this and i whole heartily agree with him. Go balls to the wall in effort to the Presentation & Atmosphere next year for Madden 17. Not saying leave the gameplay improvements alone..of course not but what we are saying is...now that you FINALLY got a very solid core gameplay to work with...totally go all out with Presentation and Atmosphere...add a boat load of new animations, re-sample and amplify those on-field sounds of tackling, impacts, clashes,etc,etc...get some full blown half-time show in there with highlights of other games. Bring back the pre-game show but record it this time, not render it using game-engine. The game looks so nice as it does now..that real footage of Simms and Nantz will fit in fine. Fine tune the fluidity of player animations, add tons of new pre/post play animations, more sideline cutscenes, add more varied sideline personal with more varied outfits, not all same red jackets, etc lol i laugh cause it sounds tedious but man..these tiny things mean a lot to overall feel...Again, go all out with presentation and Atmosphere for M17.Last edited by Moegames; 09-03-2015, 08:40 AM...You win some, you lose some

Number two, you are exactly the kind of "sim" player I have been talking about. Sports games have a wide audience and therefore should cater to everybody not just a small vocal MINORITY.
NBA 2k caters to everybody and so should madden. You do NOT speak for everybody. NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO PLAY THE SAME WAY AS YOU.
