Its really sad to see when the gameplay has so much potential.
Just to put it in perspective, I'm 5 games in to my CFM using this method, and it's quite literally 30 seconds worth of effort.

I agree we shouldn't have to do it, but I don't get the "No way I am doing all this" stuff. It's like 3 button presses and no effort.

Booker, things look really good. I started my second CFM with the Broncos last night. AP Default (tweaked cpu qb accuracy), Penalty sliders at 55, 15 min qtr (17 sec runoff). Got a pretty good game against the Ravens. Fell down 21-0 then rallied to take a 26-21 lead before I threw an inexcusable late interception with Manning. The key was deleting the tuner, game played much more like play now again. Penalties worked (had a ton of them). Had some elements of robo qb from Flacco but I think I will just tweak CPU QB sliders again (he finished at 68% but was on quite a roll for a while). The only thing I was not really feeling was CPU play calling as it was almost a perfect split of pass/run and almost always running on 1st/2nd but play calling has never been great in Madden. Will get more games in but so far so good. This is a very simple and effective way to fix the confidence issue. I checked after the game and my players were either +/- 1 so it should make this very playable.

Just how bad is the confidence issue? Meaning, I know everyone in this thread is doing this workaround to take care of the confidence problem, but in terms of genuinely affecting your franchise and the games you play--how bad is it really?

Are you playing the game and all the sudden are blowing out teams (or getting blown out) due to the confidence? Is it more subtle, where you'll lose a game in the end because the opposing QB goes "robo QB" on you due to confidence? Or does it moreso affect the rest of the league, where you're seeing teams with mediocre rated starters winning games because they get massive confidence boosts?

I'm just having a hard time deciphering if the confidence issue is a CFM killer, or if it's more of just a disappointing bug but one that you can deal with (like the left tackle regression, for example)?
By the end of year 1 I was beating everyone and scoring at least 42 points a game with the raiders. On all Madden Murray had 2100 yards rushing and I had turned user run blocking down to 35 and he was averaging 5.5 yards a carry. It carried over to year 2.

Found out about this and tried it starting a cfm with the colts. Averaging 24 points a game. All close games but I lost to Tennessee and then I blew out Jacksonville in the second half but it was 0-0 at halftime. All games are back and forth and very organic. And I had to drop the difficulty to all pro.

I'm not much for the hocus pocus or conspiracy theories that happen on OS sometimes but the confidence issue is a big one and this work around is the truth.

Go to files and delete the tuner only.

Then reboot game, it will prompt you again to reinstall the Tuner. Say yes.

I've played 5 games with the broncos and find no glaring issues. In fact, some of the interactions are just a joy to watch.

So maybe it's because the league is 32 users, even though they're not the SAME user (as with both workarounds for single player CFM's).

I deleted it because it's more relevant to the 32 users thread now. And trying to find out from the other league members if they got any confidence boosts.

The thing is, I did 3 games in an online CFM with the Raiders this weekend. I was just messing around so I played it straight, as is. No workarounds. I could swear that the confidence gains were very small. I was ignoring drive goals however, so if I earned anything, it wasn't on purpose. I am not familiar enough with how bad the confidence gains can be over time, so I'd love for someone more familiar to test it, just to see if they have tweaked something on the back end.

Thanks for the response. That is what I did last night. Played half a game and I could already tell that it was playing much better.

I may be asking this prematurely as I have yet to begin my CFM while all of this is sorted out but...

How/why does creating this 'opposing coach' disable drive goals? Is this actually something that has to be switched to off somewhere?

Thanks, hoping to actually get this going tonight...

It's either a bug in the system that is working in our favor, or it was designed that way to even the playing field when multiple users are playing in a CFM.

Either way I am happy it works because, in my opinion, CFM is unplayable without it.

So in other words, drive goals are automatically disabled when "user plays user" ?

Yes, which makes the mode useable for the time being

That is the most easier way to described

Then you have different options to achieve that, but yes, that´s the key. User vs User is disabled. (even when the CPU control the opponent team)
