The NBA also supports 2k by creating its very own E-league teams that associate with real NBA teams i believe. The NBA is becoming more popular with the main stream audience. They push for change and want the game to follow what the league is doing.

Meanwhile the NFL is worried about it's brand they limit on what EA is allowed to do for Madden. In that video about equipment. The guy basically said that the NFL has to approve of the game before they can release it. I want madden to succeed and get better, but until the NFL lightens up a bit we will be getting subtle changes every year.

Until Madden has a Franchise mode with a quarter of the depth of 2K, it ain't gon stack up next to it. Hell just the depth of the sliders alone, Madden ain't got that and it's insane.

OMG, if Madden even has half the sliders 2K has. Tendencies and other AI related sliders like 2K has would be incredible. You could make sure Alex Smith would actually just throw short passes most times. You could have WRs run specific routes better than others. If we had 2Ks depth in these kind of things it would be a dream for franchise guys. I’d love to make draft classes with very specific types of players.

Its simple lack of competition. We really need another NFL game and more sports games in general. In a lot of ways madden games have went down hill post ps2 out side of graphics and there are way less sports to chose from. Back when we had like 2-3 maybe 4 games for eatch sport things were so much better. Madden is the only NFL game and with out popular NFL its going to sale no matter what so they dont really have to try. I get tried of hearing about like nfl 2k5 and all pro football 2k8 they are the most overrated sports games ever. Madden was much better back then. My issue with madden is that back during ps2 there were things the game did better then madden now. Franchise mode was better back then didn't have a lot of messed up sim stats and had more features and CPU clock management wasn't a issue at all either. Back then CPU would call time outs when they should and if they were down a few scores with not a lot of time left and so they needed to not only score but score fast to try to get the ball back and score again they would. Now CPU only goes to no huddle if there is less then 2 minutes left. Wind having to much of a effect on kicks wasn't a issue back during ps2 either. Ever year post ps2 out side of Madden 16 I would say had at least 1 major issue that was a game killer. Seeing bad pass coverage and like 80% completion I am looking at you. I am not saying madden on ps2 didn't have some issues but nothing that was a game killer. Even the first year madden was the only NFL game I notice the game got worse were before it better ever year. If you had told me that madden would be like it is now back in like 2007 I would have laughed at you that is how disappointing the game has been post ps2.


With NHL a lot of people have been unhappy with the game but some people may say its still better then madden but with hockey not being the most popular sport they have to try more then madden has nhl is not going to just sale its self by the sport. MLB the show is the only baseball game out and yes it is better then madden but it has stalled this gen has last gen it had the best graphics of any sports game by far this gen its graphics are behind nba 2k and nba live by a lot and even behind madden and its bullpen logic has been a issue for like 10+ years and its franchise mode has not done much to improve for a while either. NBA 2k has nba live to deal with and to compete with. I know nba live has not like set the world on fire but its still out there and it does some things well. So its still a threat to 2k and does some things better then 2k in fact, and has improved a lot with 18 and 19 by a incredible amount. NBA live crowd sounds better then 2k, and the way guys run, and move on the court fells/looks more realistic then 2k. NBA live you can get fouled on jump shoots something you almost never see in 2k, and you can drawl charges in live something you dont see much in 2k either. With live being around it gives 2k something to worry about and something they have to pay attention to. With live because of how big 2k has gotten, and with them trying to get back to competing better in sales with 2k after like 13-17 or what not when the franchise like died with the game being really bad and having I think it was 2 years were the game got canceled live really had not choice but to try to get a lot better if they were going to even stay around.

I love sports basketball is my favorite NFL is a close second and the only madden game I have really liked post ps2 is madden 16 like I think I said in the post before this. Its the only madden post ps2 that I have played like a season + in franchise mode has all of the other madden games had to many flaws to play the game for more then like 3 months for and to much having to mess with sliders. I played like 5 years in franchise mode on madden 16 and have a lot of fun but even then things started to get old after that because of things like bad clock management and wind effecting punts to much. Because NFL is such a short season compared to other sports 16 games compared to NHL and NBA with 82 and MLB with 162 I think its even more important for madden to have a good franchise mode has its a lot easier to go threw multiple seasons has it just simple takes less time to play so many less games that if franchise mode is not that good feature wise or bugs or both its going to stick out even more and going to get old even faster. The fact that in the last like 12 years or so I have only really enjoyed 1 madden game is sad. I have bought a lot of madden games during that time in hopes they would be good. So being desperate for football game and some falling for the hype has a lot of times madden games sound good on paper only for new features to not work even close like you expect or for old things to get worse or a little bit of both. I skipped 19 and plain to skip 20 has I am just tired of felling like I have wasted money by buying madden, and just getting frustrated by it, and shelving the game after only a few months. Maybe madden will get its act together next gen but I just dont really see it un less some one else starts to make a football game so madden cant just be lazy.

I enjoyed Madden 19, but looking at what other sports games offer every year it’s impossible not to be underwhelmed. Not only does this company improve the gameplay in their basketball title every edition they also add content to the offline modes that is almost unparalleled. NBA 2k also has many modes that can be played online if offline gaming isn’t your thing.

I’m just tired of the excuses why this can’t be added or we had to remove this feature to make this work. I’m fed up. Football is my favorite sport and in 2020 we are JUST getting semi realistic contracts while 2k has had front/back loaded deals, no trade clauses, bird rights and real salary rules for years. Just looking at what will be in 2k20 next year has me p*ssed off on how really far behind Madden is. I know I will probably get some backlash for this post, but I think it’s important that we stop giving excuses to EA on why little things that we have been asking for for years are not in the game.

Also the crazy thing is, you can pickup and play NFL 2k right now and still see something new as far as animations, even to this date?!?! It's crazy people keep on saying Madden developers are lazy, I say they are just not as talented imo.. Honestly when you can make a game that to this date still has better animations and included so much more, even being 14+ years older??? That's talent.. Period.. Madden is still trying to play catch up to this date! I mean think about it..... If NBA Live died because of NBA 2K, what would have happened to Madden if NFL 2K was still around making football games?? The answer is clear as day.. EA knew it too, buy out the License and do it quickly! And continue to extend the contract if you don't want what happened to NBA Live to happen to Madden.

2K NFL games are overrated and I do think it is lazy because madden on ps2 in a lot of ways was a better game still then madden 20. If a game made by the same company but like 10+ years older can be better there is really no reason madden cant be better then it is now and I am 100% sure if 2k was still around that madden would be like 1000 times better then it is right now.

The fact Madden isn't the dominant force in sports gaming quality and features wise is a constant source of amazement to me, for the missed potential. The series really has little to show for its decades of financial dominance that a far less resourced series couldn't have achieved with good management. Madden is a case study of poor management. It's like the Government IT project of sports gaming.

I'm at peace with it though, as it's obvious it will never really change and there's no point caring so much about something so trivial. I try to enjoy Madden for what it is, and accept it won't be more than that. If the NFL can accept their logo and John can accept his name on a relatively mediocre product then who am I to care otherwise.

I've been saying this for years. If EA didn't buy the license, 2k would of barried Madden on Xbox 360 Era just like they did with Live. The momentum 2K5 had going to the next gen, a lot of people were rewdy to switch to 2k. Madden 06 was GARBAGE ON XBOX 360 and I'm confident NFL 2k6 would of been better game and that would of been beginning of 2k burying Madden.

Madden is marred by old code from probably almost 20 years ago that they keep slapping new code on, and the cycle continues.

They have not really had a full blown engine upgrade since PS2. I’m sure they talk about it, but the undertaking must be massive to try and do it.

Hence we have sit in football purgatory for 14 years.

I am a believer that the NFL will eventually open their eyes and see what 2K has done for the NBA with there game, and open up the license again.

for me, both games have cut corners for fun and just focused on microtransactions instead of fun game modes. Remember those awesome Madden moments? Situation mode? Jordan Challenge in 2k? Lebron mode in 2k13, the awesome mini games in Madden? These are the things missing on both titles that need to come back.
