Mega-ugh. I haven't liked the way NCAA looked or played since the PS2 era. Well, we'll see how this impacts things. Given NCAA's commitment to online dynasties, maybe there will be a renewed focus in M13 on the online franchise. Who knows.Comment

Re: Phil Frazier the Latest to Leave EA Sports Tiburon Studio
Madden's been a disappointment for years. I don't know who was the driving force behind it. But sometimes people are optimistic over change just because status qua hasn't been good. I am, for the first time in many years, somewhat interested hearing about the franchise improvements. But I'm still in a wait and see mode. I hope you understand. I'll give 2012 a chance (by getting OS info after release and looking at reviews after release).
I'm in the camp thinking this may not be a bad thing, though it could end up being bad thing. Either way, I hope the best for both you, the others that have left, and for Mr. Frazier(spelling?). I sincerely mean no disrespect, I'm just not so sure that change is a bad thing right now.Comment

Re: Phil Frazier is Leaving EA Sports Tiburon
Now it looks like Madden 12's franchise will crush NCAA 12's dynasty, but that isn't too hard since NCAA really hasn't changed their mode in years besides the layout. They added a coaching carousel, but it still is bland and really doesn't look like it will do much this year besides make playbooks change over time.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Phil Frazier is Leaving EA Sports Tiburon
Well, I wish the best of luck to Ian and Phil. Nothing against them personally, I am sure they are great people.
Now that I have said that. I like the move of changing devs out. Honesly, this will be the 7th addition of next gen Madden titles, and things are just now getting to be acceptable for a $60 current gen title. It's really hard for me to pat Ian and Phil on the back because the game has only marginally improved with 10,11,12. I honestly can't believe how slowly the franchise has moved forward.
I'm glad 12 is looking better, but I still have to ask, what took so long?Last edited by wheelman990; 06-17-2011, 02:54 PM.Comment

Re: Phil Frazier is Leaving EA Sports Tiburon
What are you trying to prove?
"What's understood doesn't need to be said."
Have you watched the M12 vids? The stats package is eerily similar to what CBS is doing -- quick stats pop out of the score hub, and there are full stat banners in necessary situations i.e. after scoring at TD.
2K5 had great presentation. It was the standard. But ESPN Sunday Night Football no longer comes on TV, and it would be foolish for Madden to attempt
to reflect a dated broadcast experience. If you watch CBS football games, you
can tell that's where the influence on Madden comes from and they seem to
have captured it well (the videos suggest that at least). Seems to me you're not impressed b/c it doesn't look like that other game. And I'm not suggesting the presentation in Madden will be on that level. But I think you're ignoring that the broadcast experience has changed IRL.
I have seen the improvements and it's a lot better. I'm not taking away what Madden has done, just there direction until this point. I looked at the videos and "What NFL game u be watching on Sunday's"? Madden doesn't look like FOX or ABC. Last year the only in-game comparisons was the QBs. This year, it looks the same for Madden12. Now NBA2k11 and MLB2k11 has comparisons out the hengyang...lol If u look at there NBA or MLB today aspect u know what I'm talking about. IF Madden had something like this, it would really add to what there doing.Comment

Re: Phil Frazier the Latest to Leave EA Sports Tiburon Studio
So you are saying that marketing finally woke up this year? Like I said, I don't know who was the driving force, but Madden has not been good for a while now. If what I think you are saying is true, then it gives me less confidence in the future. Though, this years improvements seem to be somewhat encouraging. Still taking a wait and see for 2012. And still wishing you and Mr. Fraiser the best.Comment

Re: Phil Frazier is Leaving EA Sports Tiburon
For me it was about doing something different. I worked on one game IP for 10 years. Though there were things we could have done differently in hindsight, I felt like after taking the reins (with Phil) I had gotten the Madden ship at least facing in the right direction of trying to build a true sim and getting away from rings and weapons and virtual trainers and all that other bullsh!t, and I felt like I had a lot more ideas in games that I wanted to try and work on.
Also, define 'respect from the community' lol. A simple search on my name will return nothing but venom, whether it's the mainstream industry giving me no respect because I work on a sports game, or dudes making youtube videos about how I was a liar, or pinning all of the problems in their life on me. I was sick as hell of that sh*t too.
If you would have been allowed to say, look guys, I want to do the things you guys are asking for, but the management has said we can only do little roster changes, artwork updates, etc every year people would be on your side. Like I said though, obviously you couldnt say that, you were stuck in a bad place.
The answer to everyones problems would have been for EA to have put out a stellar game back in 2007. Specially after coming out and telling everyone not to worry about the exclusive deal, because they were going to make a game so great everyone would be happy. Thats what was everywhere back in 05/06. We even got the famous 06 CGI trailer. Then the game dropped, and so did our mouths. What was worse was in the next 4-5 years we would only see minor updates. It was like kicking us NFL 2k5 lovers in the face year after year. I cant speak for everyone, but I just wanted a game to replace 2k5. I wanted you guys to destroy that game. Hasnt happened yet., but this year looks promisingLast edited by wheelman990; 06-17-2011, 03:10 PM.Comment
