Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy

After all the removals for the sake of their new CCM I just don't see how I (an offline franchise guy) could ever play this and be happy. No imported rookies and the lack of edit player makes this game completely unplayable. Backbreaker supposedly had a great engine too but you see how well it did...

    No thanks this year EA

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy

I voted maybe but I'm extremely dissappointed that they removed the offline features that made the game enjoyable for me to play.

If the feedback on OS is positive after the game has been out awhile, I'll probably pick it up after the price drops..

        What?

Backbreaker had no NFL likenesses... so of course it didn't fare well. I've never played Backbreaker, but it could have had the best, most realistic on-field representation of football ever in a video game, but it's still not going to do well without the teams and players everyone knows, loves, hates, etc.

To be fair, they really didn't add a whole lot to franchise mode last year, and what they did add didn't work too well or they weren't well received. UDFA & cut days were broken, scouting seemed incomplete, E-bay style free agency is gone... I believe most of the rest of the changes were minor tweaks rather than new features, but I haven't played M12 in quite some time, I could be forgetting some. I really didn't see a very big jump from M11 to M12 as far as franchise went, though.

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy

Roadman: Complaining becomes whining when people stop giving rational arguments behind their complaints, and start mindlessly attacking EA, other posters, and in general show a sense of undeserved entitlement and act like spoiled brats. As long as there is a thought process behind the complaints, and people keep it respectful, its not whining, but rather stating some very valid concerns.

I didn't take what was said personal, persay, im just pointing out a generalization. If we want to argue semantics, yes, he used the word "some", in the context that "some" posters want Madden to fail. He then went on to generalize that those who want EA to fail are trolls with a miserable existence who's only purpose is to hijack and derail conversations.

The fact that this is in EA's hands is exactly my problem. Madden has been around for how long now? Not once in Madden's existence has EA earned my trust. Not once have they earned the benefit of the doubt from me. I have zero trust and zero faith in EA / Tiburon to ever provide an acceptable NFL video game, because it is my opinion that they never have. For me, this was further amplified on the past gen systems when a rival developer came out and made an NFL game superior to Madden on every level. I watch now how, 1 console generation and 7 years later, EA /Tiburon STILL can't do what was being done years ago on inferior technology, the things they do manage to do they spout off as huge innovative features, like the truck stick or sideline catch animations that were standard 7 - 8 years ago in the other game, and they have a habit of REMOVING features that not only were standard 8 years ago, but are standard on sports titles throughout the entire spectrum.

It's in EA's hands, and that's exactly the problem. Year after year they continue to release the same broken, inferior product and make boneheaded decisions because simply put, they don't have to do better. They are the only NFL game in town, they never have to try or innovate because there's nothing to push them to do better.

Now next year, all the removed features will be hyped up as new, innovative features to market the new game with, yet we still won't have taken any steps forward with Madden in the past 8 years, because next year's focus is simply going to be to return features that we already had.

They added the abilty to edit rating in the franchise something I had been waiting for since 2003, the was very well received.

Ahh that's right, I guess that was kind of the main one.

True but the problem is they specifically hyped and bragged about finally giving the user "complete editing control" last year...prob knowing damn well they were gonna scrap it all together the next year...

Its like they said, "s*** lets finally give them what they asked for this year, cause next yr we scrapping ALLLLL that ish, MUAHAHAHAHA!!!"

They toyed with some of our emotions...to be honest, its a bit sick and disrespectful...imo

My whole point behind the complaining, if it's constructive great, but if it's drawn out for two weeks with constant bickering back and forth, then, I consider that whining on both sides.

Well, you failed to say anything about RTP at all, just going by past history. Wouldn't you agree that was a gutsy and welcomed move before going to the next gen consoles? Plus, adding passing trajectories and fixing physic defenders, which the community has been asking for for awhile.

And we haven't even discussed CC, yet.

Just saying, things can change, too.

Unfortunately no buy for me. With no multi team franchise I won't be getting the game this year.

If that game had the NFL license it would probably still have bombed out. I played the game and thought it was strange. Anyway my point is a game needs more than a fancy physics engine to be a success, for me anyway.

Well what else are we supposed to do until the game comes out? We have to talk about something.

RTP means nothing to me if the cheat AI isn't fixed. Madden's biggest flaw to me is its completely horrid AI that implements cheat tactics to represent a challenge. Ratings have meant nothing in my franchise modes, because the outcomes are pre determined by a slider set. Until this is addressed, RTP means nothing to me.

Pass trajectories and psychic DB's is great, but again EA is hyping something that was standard 8 years ago on inferior technology in Madden's competition. I am not impressed by EA taking 8 years to fix a problem that never should have existed in the first place.

That's my point, talk about other parts of the game.

Ratings are more judged on team overalls this year vs individual ratings.
