Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?
I don't think he was discounting the value or importance of sliders. I think he's talking less about preference and more about representation. In other words, certain games are much closer to "right" out of the box (in terms of accurate representation of the sport) than other games.
The Show, for example, starts at a good base and can play a realistic game out of the box. 2K baseball and Madden play more like an arcade game and need heavier adjustments to get them within the realm of "realistic" representation. Basically, almost everyone looking for more realistic games out of Madden has to make adjustments, regardless of the specific adjustments made.
In any case, as long as I can get to a semblance of realism, I don't personally care all that much about the base. Madden has just required more work to get there, is all.Comment

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?
My opinion of the demo should make me not buy it, but I believe in EA and will donate my $60. Honestly I see no difference from 12. Physics look prettier but doesn't change the outcome of the plays. my girlfriend was watching me play as she always does and she confirmed that she sees no difference either.
I went back to try to play 12 yesterday after playing 5 games of the M13 demo and M12 is unplayable now. Everything about 13 is better, graphics, commentary, crowd audio, gameplay most of all. Go look at NY@SF 4:15 pm on Madden 12 and compare it to what you see and hear in 13, it's a big difference.
13 is not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot better than 12Last edited by jpdavis82; 08-15-2012, 09:39 PM.Comment

I hate to call you a liar, but there is NO way you cannot tell a difference between 12 and 13 if you played 12 at all.

I agree. I went back and played a game of 12 and was like wow! what a difference. My wife said it looked the same to her too, until I turned on 12 again and she was like now I see the difference.Comment

Demo definitely changed my mind. Definitely leaning more toward a no buy than before. Still holding out for the season pass, but I might move my money to NHL or something else. This game is just not doing it for me.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

I went from most likely buy off toysrus for $45 with a $25 gift card (so $20-$25 out of my pocket) to a pass. The demo was bad, imo. Everything I disliked about 12 like player movement and blocking seemed to get worse and the IE looks silly just as often as it looks amazing. I'd rather pick up another game instead.Comment

Gameplay was better .
Not a huge fan of the engine .
Liked the new passing system .
Liked running the ball.
Defense felt boring like I had zero impact on the game .
I'll buy it though on release day .Currently playing FIFA 2013 & DOTA 2 ( PC )

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?
I heard that they took out fantasy drafts... and that alone is enough for me to not buy the game. The demo is ok, and the engine was both smooth and sloppy at times, but if there's no fantasy drafts, especially online, I'm not getting it. I can always wait until 2k13.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?
Definitely changed my mind from a buy to a pass and maybe wait 1 or 2 years into the next gen of consoles until I even bother thinking about getting Madden again. I can't even get through a complete game of the demo anymore it's so damn frustrating.
I'm so worn out from begging EA to fix simple things and getting my hopes up year after year. The defense STILL automatically knows what I'm doing every single time I call a formation audible. STILL. After what? A decade? I'm a grown man and EA makes me want to freaking cry sometimes. It's pathetic.Comment

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?
The game should make smarter decisions, but a rookie QB should still make rookie mistakes no matter whether you play on rookie, all pro or all madden. Instead the cpu becomes all stars while your team becomes the keystone cops. The cpu should call better plays and at least be able to tell when it has a mismatch with more experienced Qb's. I hate using sliders and house rules bit it's the only way I can get enjoyment and simulation out of the game.Proud Beta tester for NFL 2K Dreamcast

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?
I already posted in the Demo Impressions thread, so I will keep this short. Madden 13, after 8 years on next gen has not evolved enough for me to buy or rent.
The Demo, which is going to pretty much be the finalized version like most years (please no talk of alpha/early builds), shows M13 to be a clumsy comedy of errors. Players are falling all over the place, there is little to no true tackling...in fact, players seem to fly into each other and fall over...There are too many bugs for my personal liking. I'd rather play an earlier Madden and "the other NFL game" than invest $$$ into a premium beta test.
The commentary is a huge step up this year! They actually mixed it properly for the most part, but I buy Madden for the gameplay...and it is not going to be there this gen.
I just don't see what game people who are loving the M13 demo are playing...and I watched the videos from the guy who has the full version.....still wacky/weird gameplay. No more Madden for me this gen.“What’s better than one billionaire? 2.....”Comment
