They can do better than that but instead have simply decided to make your team play worse on higher difficulties. That part is unacceptable to me how they emulate difficulty.

The game should make smarter decisions, but a rookie QB should still make rookie mistakes no matter whether you play on rookie, all pro or all madden. Instead the cpu becomes all stars while your team becomes the keystone cops. The cpu should call better plays and at least be able to tell when it has a mismatch with more experienced Qb's. I hate using sliders and house rules bit it's the only way I can get enjoyment and simulation out of the game.
I agree with some of what you said besides the highlighted. I'm not disputing that the CPU do know the play that is called sometimes(not all the time because I can be running the ball and they come out with there Dline spread wide and that's simply not knowing the play that I called)but I'm still able to operate my offense however I want to without having to audible or hot route all the time to confuse them. They may know the play sometimes but there's always somewhere you can go with the ball when throwing or cut it back to an open lane when running. All of this was easy to do on Madden 12. But I do agree with you about them needing to make a much smarter AI..

I definitely disagree about the sliders. This was one of best features they ever added to the game. I use to be done with Madden after a few months of thrashing the CPU on default All-Madden growing up.. With sliders I'm able to play year round..

      To each their own, right?

8 years? This gen has been a bit long but not that long.

Also why are we still calling it "next gen"? This gen is about to be over!

Anyway, before the demo came out I was thinking of getting the game but playing the demo I can say that I am definitely getting it. Really enjoying the demo.

I love the physics engine when it comes to the overall feel of the game. Tackles, as well as the run game feels so much better than it ever has in any other previous madden. There are definitely quirks but on the flip side, I have seen some really great looking stuff as well. Things that wouldn't be possible in previous maddens. So I would rather take all of that than canned animations with suction that happen every game.

I am also enjoying the passing game with the new trajectories.

Commentary is a BIG step up (though that's not saying much due to how terrible the commentary was in Madden 12) and the presentation is very solid outside of the strange post-play replays.

Connected Careers looks good and I'm pretty sure that I will enjoy it. Overall I can see this being the first Madden that I play for more than a month since Madden 10. This is the first madden this gen in which I can say it's fun for me to play on both offense AND defense on pass & run plays. The last Madden game that I could say that for was Madden 2005 during its time.

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?

My answer is no, as I will still not be buying the game but here are the reasons and they have little to do with the game not being up to my entertainment standards.

          1. Madden comes out August 28th. That is the week I start my 1st full time semester of grad school, 3 classes, tons of reading, plus 20 hours of week of work, so 20 hours of work, plus 2 on campus classes of 6 hours a week, plus one online, plus all the reading for the courses, and dealing with crap I have to do in my apartment like chores, grocery shopping, etc, leaves me little time to dedicate fairly to a video game of any sorts that first week. I am going to go balls to the wall Mon-Friday Afternoon on my work/studies so I can still watch a lot of college football/NFL on weekends so I am choosing real football over a game for my football fix there.
          2. I thought about waiting a couple weeks, getting a feel for grad school and managing my time properly as everything gets easier after the first little bit of time with anything in life, but if I wait until say mid-September to purchase that puts me 2-3 weeks away from NBA2k13 coming out which I know I"ll purchase. Hard to justify myself finding time to play both enough to justify the 130 bucks of cash I'd have to lay down for 2 games within a month of each other.

I really do like the demo though, and it has me on the fence despite all of the above lol I took off last year from Madden and like what I see this year. I think taking a year off helps sometimes with sports' games, but we shall see if I ultimately cave. Hell maybe grad school will be a cakewalk, it is only History, not like it is something really tough like going to Medschool or Lawschool lol.

            1. Madden 06
            2. 07
            3. 08
            4. 09
            5. 10
            6. 11
            7, 12
            8. Madden 13

Eight seasons of Madden anyways. Technically 06 didn't get a full dev cycle from what I understand.

I was getting it anyway b/c I have a buy one get ooone free at gamestop so I'm packaging this with 2k. All the demohis done is make me wish 2k would come out earlier. I said I was done buying Madden after 11 but the demo changed my mind.

I played the demo last night and overall I will just say that it's okay. I like the new passing system and the hits feel different. Also, I seem to have more time to pass now. The crowd noise is also really good. I do have some concerns though. The cpu was way too easy to beat. I played on All Pro with the 49ers and beat NYG 27-0. Eli Manning had 0... that's right 0 yards passing until the 4th quarter and I was able to sack him at will. I didn't touch the sliders or anything. I know some of you will say that I should be playing on All Madden, but I haven't played a Madden game since Madden 10, so it's been a few years since I even touched Madden and I havent played NCAA since NCAA 11. Also, the physics does some crazy stuff during tackles and especially after a play. I had a Ray McDonald pull a full fledged Exorcist head turn while making a tackle. And after the play it just looks like a train wreck. Also, the lighting is horrible in the Redskins - Seahawks game. The teams look waaaay too dark in the bright sun. With all of that said, I can live with those issues. The main issue for me that has me rethinking buying this game is that I was just plain BORED with it after a few games. Nothing about it made me want to be like, "I've got to have this game". The presentation is okay, but I found myself skipping over most of it and I'm a huge presentation guy. In other games I sit through all of the presentation elements before I play a game, but I just kept trying to skip through Maddens. The only way I'll buy Madden is if I really want to play with the 49ers. Other than that, I may skip this year like I did the last few. I'm not saying the game is terrible, but I just don't think it's worth my $59.99.
                  Then... Play on all madden...

Re: Has the demo changed your mind about buying Madden 13?

I was always going to buy it...I only downloaded the demo to get a head-start on slider configurations.

I've been watching CPU vs. CPU games non-stop and I see many more positives than negatives.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the retail version of the game (or a week-1 patch) will address some of the AI's play-calling tendancies in late-game situations and some of the poor on-field decision making for the players in general.

I really thought this just might be the year with the addition of the physics engine, but after playing the demo a few times, I was not impressed at all.. The physics engine that was added was an improvement and does make Madden feel a bit better then other versions, bit it still has way to many flaws.. To be honest what did it for me was when I threw the ball for a HB screen pass and the DT read the play and somehow without looking back reached out with one hand and intercepted the ball I was like, forget it.. I mean the DT caught the ball with one hand like he was a WR and then ran it all the way for a TD Really??? It's another typical EA sports Madden football game.

The game plays way to much like previous Madden games.. As much as Tiburon tries, they just can't get this game right! What really amazes me is how a game that was released 5+ years ago still outdoes this Madden game?? 2K sports did things back then that tiburon has been trying to do even now, but still can't?? How does that happen?? Did 2K have Genius or rocket scientist for developers?? Someone please make understand, cuz I just dont get it... Don't get me wrong I know Tiburon is trying their best, but how does 2K sports get it so long ago but EA sports can't even now?? Idk...

Maybe one of you good people can answer these questions for me.

                        1. The game killer for me last season was that the CPU AI was keeping all the fantasy created players for the extended rosters in the pre-season. By doing that, it would release real life rookies, sometimes 1st round picks. This was frustrating to no end for me, because I am a hardcore realist when it comes to rosters and their accuracy. That alone made me stop playing the game. Is that feature back in this years version??

                        2. I have read/heard that you won't be able to edit any aspect of a player in this years Madden once you go into dynasty mode. Is there any confirmation on this being true? That would be a huge hit for me, because what if I want to edit a players equipment or jersey number? Little things like that...They add up to make a game great for me.

I did enjoy the actual game play in the demo. Thought it was much improved, and would buy the game based on that alone.

Only one thing I need to seal the deal and thats extensive video of the cc (franchise) mode

Not condemning, but rather musing why....like PVarick31 said its def a very polarizing Madden title. For instance I love NCAA 13, but find M13 baffling. There are moments of brilliance for me when playing the DEMO, but mostly glaring issues.

But absolutely to each their own. I look forward to a month after the M13 release to see what the opinions of the game are.
