You're right about your statement. If they don't bring up the title on there May 16th Q4 2022 conference call then I will at a loss as to what is going on with this game.

Re: This NFL 2K forum has been opened for 2 years and 2K has not even thrown us a bon
One Day before the Draft, let's hope we hear something tomorrow night. For a game that was supposed to be ready to release last year, why not release any information on it and let us know what type of game it is? It's just odd how the game was ready to be released a year ago but 2K doesn't want to release any information on it. So was the game not ready last year which caused the one year delay? You're right about your statement. If they don't bring up the title on there May 16th Q4 2022 conference call then I will at a loss as to what is going on with this game.

That conference call timelines makes sense. Some publishers usually give a timeline of game releases for the year after the Q4 conference call. So it could make sense to get some type of info around that timeComment

Re: This NFL 2K forum has been opened for 2 years and 2K has not even thrown us a bon
Right now Take Two's fall lineup looks pretty weak. Aside from the usual NBA 2K and WWE 2K they have a Marvel strategy game announced and that it. They tend to announce their stuff in May usually. If we don't get anything between now and then we're not getting a proper announcement this year.
It'd be pretty moronic of them to release WWE 2K23 in October - November after the newest title just released a month ago.
I do agree that if nothing is revealed or hinted at during their next conference call then this/these title(s) are essentially just "vaporware." Which doesn't add up in a myriad of ways.
We'll just have to continue to wait and see, but on the bright side other alternative football games are on the horizon. And they all seem to be taking steps forward too.

I think the silence is very telling, it’s going to end up being some type of card game or mobile game. Best bet is a “The Park” type online 7 vs 7 ala The Yard.Comment

One things for sure
NCAA Football is coming out next year hopefully (Crosses fingers)
It would be a very very bad marketing decision to delay it again until next summer being in the middle of the pac
Madden & College
People that hate EA gonna be all over College football
Because of all those years waiting for NCAA to come back.Comment

2k announced a rocket league type game yesterday.
The latest news and headlines from Yahoo! News. Get breaking news stories and in-depth coverage with videos and photos.
So since they announced the partnership with the NFL we’ve gotten news of 3 Lego titles and now Gravity Goal being developed but no news on what their football titles even are about other than they are non-sim. Not sure what to make of it really.

Definitely not something I would be proud to tell people in public either. lol.
I’ll say this. If someone wants to run a game on Xbox live, I can right now.Comment

I do think this is an exceptional circumstance. They haven't been able to participate in this specific niche market with any degree of confidence for more than 10 years which is very different from some of their other products. I don't think it's unreasonable for an interested party within this context to pine for a little more information like it would be for a COD or Madden fan to be whining when they have information released in a relatively consistent way, annually.
Ultimately this isn't an unbelievable perspective, at least imo; It's one *******'s opinion on a marketing strategy.Comment

Did the post create a perception of entitlement within this context? I'm certainly not a "writer", so I'll concede my command of the language may not be elegant enough to differentiate between an opinion on marketing strategy vs. an expectation or demand from a specific party.

This is an exceptional circumstance in multiple ways. 2k has restrictions on what NFL game they can make. EA has no such restrictions. If 2ks idea is easy to design there’s nothing stopping EA from simply adding an identical mode into madden and telling customers that Madden let’s you do exactly what 2ks game does AND simulate the NFL season.
With an 18 year gap since 2k5 if 2k delivers a good game it’ll sell like hotcakes even if they wait until the week before release to say anything

But what I'm trying to say is more a general perspective of how marketing works in the gaming industry. And you are right when you say this is a unique case since there is no previous game to go off of to tell us when the marketing should start.
It doesn't look like we are getting anything to coincide with the draft. So if we are getting anything this fall, I would say the marketing would start mid to late summer.
They also probably have the NFL to deal with when it comes to marketing. So it may be a double edge sword with them being ready to market it and the NFL also having a say in the marketing.
I get it's been forever since 2K5, but they don't care about that. They have a set marketing strategy with set dates and that's just how it works for anything in the entertainment industry. Companies don't take into account what people on a forum want. Not trying to be a jerk, but it is what it is. Games don't get announced until the company making them decides on that specific date. So the fact we all want info now doesn't matter. It's not on demand whether we like it or not.
Back in the day it might have been different. Developers were more in contact with people like us. But those days are pretty much gone. It's all corporate now, and all about the money.Comment

Re: This NFL 2K forum has been opened for 2 years and 2K has not even thrown us a bon
Honestly, another aspect could be as simple as an agreement not to market their new game before X date, so as not to interfere with EA’s current game.
That could push the date as far as after the Super Bowl. Again, because this is not normal, 2K is under far more restrictions than in most licensed sports game situations.
And honestly, that a better perspective. Because I don’t think EA would care if it was Lego NFL. But EA sure as heck would be opposed to an all out discussion of 2K’s new game before they can even release PR for their own 2023 Madden release.
Again, this is what happens when people treat marketing as an essential form of their entertainment, not just an open willingness to be manipulated, but enough for expletive filled posts aimed at the people you hope are making a great game demanding they should.
No matter when they release info, and how much they release, the game will come out and be what it is, great, average, or awful. And trying to determine that from marketing is a joke.
And worse, what folks really want to do is “make sure the game is fixed” before release. I mean, what a shame it would be if they released the game without input? Right?
But I mean, I guess, what’s the harm in raising expectations based on marketing and FUD, other than making it an unwelcome environment for devs that used to share real information.Comment

I'm really not trying to be a jerk here with that post. I wish we knew something as well. The fact is, 2K has never really been known for their great marketing. Well WWE 2K kinda looked like it was gonna change that.
But what I'm trying to say is more a general perspective of how marketing works in the gaming .
I think the most frustrating part of this for me personally has more to do with OS than 2K.
I’ve been giving you guys crap for years within this context. I know, for a fact, some corners of moderation found it exhausting. I get it.
Y’all were nice enough to accommodate the subforum and actually give a growth opportunity to a potential community, and there’s just been nothing. There’s a part of me that feels accountable, in some regard for that, and it kinda sucks.
There’s no intention to extend the topic here, just felt like I should say that.Comment

I can remember being a freshman at Kent State and going into the computer lab just to look up info on the first NFL 2K game. I remember being in awe of the graphics at the time. I will always remember 9/9/99. First game I played and I was hooked.
Hopefully we will get something soon so we know whether to be excited or not. lolComment

I also feel like the more time that passes by, the less like 2K5/2K8 this game will be. Obviously it can't be a simulation title, but there are certain things 2K games did which appealed to me that Madden can never do no matter how good it is, mostly because of stylized decisions. Camera, controls, interactions, sounds, you name it. The stamp that those 2K games had is something that I'd like to still see, even in an arcade style. The more that you remove time and developers/producers from that era, the less likely you'll see something of that ilk (in my opinion).
