Re: NFL 2K console game will be revealed June 7th at Summer Gamefest. (Update: no new

I have so many favorite players that I first came across because they were awesome in the video games. Dan Morgan immediately comes to mind as he was a terror in NCAA Game Breaker. Same with Urlacher, Clinton Portis, Mcgahee etc.

I also didn’t have the ability to watch a lot of the games as a kid so playing the game WAS the game a lot of time. I remember hearing how awesome Barry Sanders was and seeing highlights, so I’d watch sim games just to see what he’d do in my video game haha

Didnt EA just bow out of bball because they were trash compared to 2k. That isnt because of development costs its because they sucked an kept getting outsold. Make a good product or hire the ppl that can

It is true that their sales weren't there, but 2K also re-signed an enormous rights deal with the NBA around the same time. Seven years for $1.1 billion dollars:

        https://sports.yahoo.com/nba-players...0seven%20years.

EA bowed out for both reasons, they would need to re-up with the NBA & then actually make a competitive product (would need to sell around 3 million to 'break even'), but my point was more about why no one new has entered or 'brought back' sports IPs. The cost of the licenses and development is too high for new titles.

My question is does EA still have the NBA license? I would imagine so if NBA Live Mobile is still active. But, I would also imagine why pay just to use it for Live Mobile. It does feel like the Live Series is dead and buried, but it also feels weird that there was never any official statement about the status. It's been close to 6 years since they announced that NBA Live 20 was canceled.

After 6 years, it's easy to think Live is never coming back, but I don't see why they are keeping Live Mobile around. I can't imagine there making enough to warrant its existent.

Yeah, that's why we just see the usual EA Sports and 2k as the main AAA Sports Games publishers. I feel that MLB pushed Sony to go third party for The Show because they weren't bringing enough revenue in. Unless Sony is looking to expand their Sports game portfolio(which it never seemed so), we're stuck with EA and 2k as the AAA sports games publishers

I just feel that with the name and legacy football game alone, they can take a chance to build a football game and make money. Push the NFL to reconsider with building the best non licensed sim game ever seen. I didnt even hear about all pro football because im not a diehard gamer as others apparently, even tho i game daily. Promote the hell out of it on the top watched shows on tv outside of football games and let it grow

I have felt All Pro 2k would've done better now than it did in 2007. Visual Concepts/2K didn't have the same reputation as it does now, EA Sports had a better public reputation then compared to now, and that was before Social Media boomed. 2k Sports is well known enough now and with the NFL appeal, I do think a Non-Sim game will do well.

I just don't think it's likely that NFL reconsiders a exclusive sim license. NFL prefers exclusives deals, Madden hasn't had any issues with bringing in Revenue, and I think it would take a miracle. I thought the best chance for 2k to get the NFL to consider would be to release multiple Non-Sim titles and build up their fanbase for the NFL to see. But, as it seems now, 2k may have just 1 title to make a big enough impression. Or hope that Madden doesn't reach the Revenue Benchmark that NFL set to unlock the extra year

Yea thats a tough ask, and def a huge/astronomical type ask, for the nfl. Its easy money and why jeopardize it. I really want it as a gamer and want the gaming community to be able to ask for this with any title, sports mostly. Let us have a choice and you can make money regardless by just setting rules and standards for everyone across the board. Hell i played 2k because i had a dreamcast and didnt even realize it would be gone just as my dreamcast 2,3,4 hopes would be either.

Tough times but just like technology has grown and offers us multiple options for anything, give the gaming community some of that grade A love lol.

Maybe the deal that exists for mobile games is far less costly than for a console title? Unless we can get a NBA/video game 'insider' to go digging all we have is speculation.

I felt that NBA Live 18 and 19 were solid games. I feel like if they didn't scrap NBA Live and spent the last 5-6 years developing solely for the current gen consoles, that EA could put out a title that could compete with NBA 2k. Having competition and options are great for the consumer and pushes the publishers.

Unless they find a way to reduce cost of development and licenses, I don't think the sports games landscape will change. It's not like other major AAA publishers are looking to get into the Sports market. So, we're stuck with just 2k and EA as the top 2

There's been some rumors about PS3 emulation coming to PS5. They are just rumors and we don't know how it's gonna work but imagine playing All Pro Football 2k8 on PS5.
