If that happened I'm almost positive the guy over at FBGratings.com would do a roster that could be downloaded. He's said if 2k did a football game then his rosters would be for that game instead of Madden.

I can promise everyone that I will have a file out very quickly if a generic game releases.

Its also weird to see current game changers asking questions on Twitter like "Would you leave your Madden league if 2k came out with a football game".

Honestly, I don't see them merely announcing a prototype for a game in development. I could be wrong, but if they announce anything, it would be a games that's releasing in August. Why announce, at E3, that you have a game in development that will come out no sooner than a year from now ? Any splash that is generated from that will surely die down, and a lot of people may not even care since 2k's last game was seven years ago, and their last NFL game was ten years ago. Only the hardcore football gaming community remembers 2k5. Ten years might as well be thirty years.

Also, there's no reason to lose hope for 2k or any other football game not named Madden. This is the first time in ten years that we can reasonably hope for a Non-EA football game as the license is not likely not exclusive anymore. Before, nobody could make an NFL football game, and companies obviously had no desire to make non-licensed football games.

Putting all pessimism and optimism aside, with the popularity of the NFL, I find it hard to believe that no other company would be interested in putting out an football game.

If they showed an amazing football demo that blows Madden out the water you best believe people would be hype, even if it's a year away. After all these years so many people would be ecstatic that 2K football is coming back. Its probably better if they waited another year to release it, giving them an entire year to promote the game, not enough time between now and August to promote to the masses and get even more people hyped. I can't see a football game being released by 2K this year anyway, just seems like they need more time to work on the game. I just want to here that they are making a football game don't care if it's 1 or 2 years away, better than never.

This might be the biggest give away or at least very telling of the situation. Before when the license was exclusive, game changers never asked that question. Now with the rumors of it not being exclusive and rumors of a new 2K game, they start asking that? Something is indeed up.

Whether it's 2K, or Sony(remember they have a few "unannounced" titles as well) it does seem EA is worried whoever else is making a NFL licensed game.

Well, they just can. Becaus they created an own franchise instead of licensing it. And a licensed franchise has the disadvantage, that the developer has a limited time to develope to create a game based on a franchise.

A lot depends on how a licensing deal is structured. For example, if it's an upfront payment structure without per unit royalites, the licensor is typically less concerned with release times (since they've already been paid).

I agree though that if it's a franchise the company itself owns, it's a different situation entirely. 2K's situation may, however, be closer to the latter than to the former given the licensing circumstances.

This thread has me so scared. I want to believe 2k is coming back but I've been burned so many times before. Imagine if 2k is a sony exclusive bc we already know EA is in bed with MS.

Been following this thread... is this really going to happen? This would spark the most excitement here at OS since I joined in 2006.

This does seem like a great time for 2K to strike while the iron is hot. Brand new systems just launched and Madden has been dragged through the mud the last few years for poor quality and a stale all around product.

If 2k is in fact making a football game and they come out of the gates blazing with a product similar in quality to NBA 2K.... Madden may see its final hour.

You have not even played the next gen version of Madden 25. It's not CLOSE to a lie. Madden 25 on next gen is riddled with freezes and crashes. Since you admitted that you haven't even played the game, don't go making accusations here where you have no grounds to do so. There is a lot more I would like to write here and I'm sure a large group would also like me to, but I won't out of respect for OS.

Don't go calling people liars when you have no grounds to do so. That's all I will say about that.

I played Madden 25 on Next Gen and I didn't have it crash/freeze on me whatsoever. Only games that crashed on me were BF4 and NBA 2K14. I get that you don't like Madden, but come on.

I love battlefield, never had a freeze on ps4, even if it did, I enjoy the game so much it wouldn't make me rage quit the series.

Madden on the other hand is just not my cup of tea. They could fix everything that us "wrong with it" in my eyes and I still wouldn't enjoy it. Just the way the game is, the presentation, the way it plays, I like 2k football. I overlook issues with 2k games, just as I do with battlefield because I enjoy them. I assume a lot of people feel that way, hence half the madden forum complaining

Same. 2K always felt more organic to me and that was more enjoyable to play. It's always refreshing to me when I go back and play them.

It would be a miracle to see this franchise come back. I joined this website back in 2007 because madden was so bad and I needed updated 2k5 rosters. Guys like puja and dophin kept the game alive for years and IMO its the reason this site became so popular. If 2k came back, I think this site would crash.
