I was excited when Backbreaker was first announced. Then I saw the first screen, and the player model stunk to high heaven. I was highly disappointed.
Now, however, this really looks legit, and I'm excited again. Madden is stale, so something new and fresh is long overdue.
Can't wait to see more.
That said, when I disregard the reliant stadium pic and take another look at the small sample of mo captioning and the player models, with sweat pooling and etc., this game looks really promising. It's killing me how hard it is to find any info at all on it.Comment

I'm nervous that your reaction to backbreaker will be the overall reaction to this game. Football gamers can be very fickle. So many beg and plead for a new game, but then reject the new game because of the player models, or team names or the mo capped animations. Just one thing being off on a new game in its first attempt can sink it before it even gets started.

I wish we could find some more info on the game or where they are in their development process. I guess we just have to wait until they decide it's time to release.Comment

Not a big fan of BackBreaker at all, but I don't see where the legs were too thin. I thought they were well-proportionate to the disproportionate body types, lol:
As for the physics engine, seems kind of wild to me to just dismiss it like that. It was a very sophisticated real-time physics engine, and certainly better than what's been seen from the Infinity Engine in Madden which has become nothing more than an enabler to the issue of its remaining legacy core animation problems. BB's RTPe sure had its flaws, but playing that game I think a lot of how it worked had more to do with the developers not having a strong football knowledge, evidenced by rules mistakes, an elementary playcall setup, and lacking football fundamentals galore.Comment

The physics, locomotion, and animations in Backbreaker: Vengeance -- despite being four years and one console generation behind -- are still better than what's in Madden 15.
Vengeance's spin move, in particular, is easily the most realistic spin move that's ever been put into a football game. The defender reactions that you'd get from doing that move were superb. Meanwhile in Madden, you can defy the laws of gravity by spinning hard left and then instantly spinning back to the right without losing much speed. And defenders in Madden basically go brain dead and screw up their pursuit for no reason just because you press the spin button.
The stutter steps that automatically kicked in whenever you let go of the joystick were also really well done in Vengeance.Last edited by jyoung; 02-04-2015, 08:38 PM.Comment

Different strokes. I wasn't impressed.
But enough about BB. That's in the past.Comment

I got a Twitter account just to follow this game. Not a ton of info, but Damon posted this pic.
They put youtuber Ryan Moody in the game. Also mentioned that there are 3500 different permutations of fans. That's a huge number and one more reason to believe this is more than a mobile game if you needed one.Comment

Good bit of info in one of his replies:
Damon Grow: we have nearly 3500 fan permutations in v.1 procedurally generated per game and weather conditions
###
3500 would be about 60 different hat/shirt/gender/hair/face/skin texture/color combinations.Last edited by mestevo; 02-05-2015, 01:19 PM.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16 Looks to be a Mobile Game, Utilizing Unreal Engine 4
I'm visiting this thread and checking the twitter feed multiple times a day.
Imagine what I will become when a game is announced. You know, one with features and screenshots, and (shudder . . . ) game play videos.
This had better not suck!!! I have been waiting a long time for this. Since College Hoops, NFL 2k, and Power Pros disappeared I have been reduced to throwing myself at random sport games hoping for one that I will like.
I'm glad NBA 2k is still good but once I got used to recruiting my team and trying to turn around a fledgling college hoops program in 2k8 it has been hard to get into an NBA association. Knowing you only have your star for 4 years max really adds to the pressure.
But back on topic . . . I really hope this will be the real deal.Comment

I tend to agree. Would be way too much effort and detail for a tablet based game. This has got to be a console and/or PC game.Comment
