It's funny to go back and read some the posts in this thread...I'm glad to see Kurt having a great year. You'd have to argue that at this point he's been the MVP of the league.

I agree (and last year I was against it). If he can keep this up then he'll have shown he's not a system QB, and will have 3 MVP's and the highest percentage of 300+ yards of any QB in history. I would like to see him keep this up another year or two, but we also have to factor in that he didn't get a shot until he was 30, so he won't have the career numbers like a Marino.

I still don't see how anyone can not think he is now.

          Superbowl Champion: Check
          Superbowl MVP: Check
          MVP: Check (x2)

I don't know of any other QB with that resume that isn't either in the HOF or on their way.

Hell, he even has a higher completion percentage with a higher yards/attempt than Peyton Manning.

This year is just icing on the cake.

I'm a huge Warner fan but let him pile on the stats for a couple more years(which I'm confident he will) and he'll be in Canton one day. Attitude and his contributions off the field won't hurt his chances with the writers either. He has a lot going for his chances right now, dude is the ultimate class-act.

Good article on Football Outsiders a couple of weeks ago on this subject.

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?

Who not? Troy Aikman is in the hall, and Warner has a higher completion percentage, higher career rating, more TD's, and by the time he retires, more yards. He's also been a league MVP, and a Super Bowl MVP. ....

....then again, Art Monk had more catches then Lynn Swann and John Stallworth combined, and almost as many yards as both combined, and both of those guys got in the hall 7 years before he did. Whats even stranger was that Peter King's reseaoning behind Monk's absense was because he didn't have many years as a dominant receiver, or he didn't goto enough pro bowls or whateva - yet Swann never even caught more than 50 balls in one year, hmmm....

The BCS makes more sense than the Hall of Fame.

                    I heard an amazing stat

45% of Warner's starts in his career have been 300+ yard passing games. That's simply mind boggling. If he can lead the Cards to the playoffs and actually win a game I say he's a HOFer, perhaps not a lock but he'll get in eventually.

Plus, how can you hate a guy who's as humble and down to earth as Kurt is?

I think some of you guys forget that it's the Hall of FAME not Hall of STATS.

Gayle Sayers is a prime example of this. Stats are a factor, but not as big as some of you think.

Um, so how do we base guys then? Stats are a key factor in determining if someone is hall worthy. Gale Sayers is an exception but look at his stats. They were mind blowing for his time and if you extrapolate his numbers out to a "normal" length career he would've had legit HOF numbers at the RB/KR position. It's why I wouldn't be too upset if Terrell Davis gets in.

I'm not sure if he's in yet, but he's probably a lock if he wins a third MVP.

I dunno....fame? Stats lie, every football person knows this.

I advise everyone to read that football outsiders article that was posted earlier in the thread. Gives some nice perspective.

Certain stats lie, not all. If you're going to say that fame is the main criteria for induction then you'll never see OL or DL ever make it to the Hall. On the flip side based on your answer Ray Guy would be in the HOF by now.

I don't care how many stats lie.

The biggest deciding factor in Warner's case are his multiple MVP's. If he ends up winning a third then how can you discount him being voted the best in the entire league three times with only one other person accomplishing that feat.

Name me another three time MVP in any sport that isn't in their respective Halls of Fame.

Hell, I'd be surprised if there were any two time MVP winners that weren't in.
