Agreed about the change of opinions. And if he's not he ought to be, considering the AFL is sometimes considered one of the NFL's developmental leagues. If Warner makes it to the NFL HoF, he should definitely be in the AFL's.

I don't think the AFL has a HOF.
It's the Pro Football Hall of Fame so anything that Warner accomplished in the AFL should count towards his HOF credentials, albeit weighted accordingly.Comment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
Before today, I would've said no. After today, I still say no. He would need 2, maybe 3 more good seasons before I'd vote for him. I just can't get past his lack of impact and mediocre record over the past few years, regardless of whether they were injury-related or not. I have a lot of trouble seeing someone as a HOF QB, regardless of stats, if they're constantly having to win the QB job each off-season and switching teams every few years.Comment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
2 time MVP. 3 times in the Super Bowl, arguably the best alumnus of the World League, extremely high career passer rating, most likely about to win NFL Man of the year, given to someone who exemplifies excellence on and off the field( do not discredit this award in terms of his HOF resume)
Kurt Warner is an example about everything good in pro athletes, and just like I hope the HOF does the right thing and selects Pat Tillman for enshrinement this year, they better do the right thing here. If Warren Moon deserves enshrinement even though he spent years getting to the NFL, so does Kurt WarnerComment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
That's what I was going to say. It's not the NFL Hall of Fame, and being one of the best to ever play in the AFL should count for something. I'm not saying that alone would get him in (and shouldn't as a player's resume at the NFL level should count the most) but it should score him a few points. Flutie will probably get in someday because he dominated in Canada for so long, even though he was mostly mediocre at the NFL level. Football is different from, say baseball, in that its more physical and guys can't be counted on to play for 10-12 years. A 3 or 4 year peak of being the best at your position should warrant a lot of consideration if that peak was truly special, and in the case of Warner, it was. I say he's in.Comment

I think Warner's resume qualifies him.Comment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
I could be wrong but I do remember hearing about the AFL hall of fame during a AFL game, altho I could be mistaken that for a ALL TIME team...it was like 2 years ago...
Edit- I remember now, it was the AFL's 20th anniversary and they were talking about the anniversary team...if they count that career plus win another superbowl he might even be first balotLast edited by Jukeman; 01-18-2009, 10:41 PM.Comment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
It's weird because even though Warner is a two time MVP, he had a large gap in between his Rams dominance and his Cardinals dominance. Despite the gap of success, I think he's become a Hall of Famer with his great play this year.Comment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
I still don't think that there's any way that he should be in the Hall of Fame. Having three or 4 good years in a 10 year career doesn't make someone a Hall of Famer.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

If three or four good years don't, how about three or four of the best seasons in NFL history?Comment

Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?
No. He hasn't shown that he can lift a team by himself, he needs to be surrounded by talent to do anything. That isn't a Hall of Famer to me. The three or four good years he's had he's had the luxury of having at least two receivers who would be number one's on any other team and he had Marshall Faulk when he was with the Rams. And while the Cardinals didn't run the ball this year, they played in a horrendous division so it didn't really matter what they did.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters.
