It's the integrity of the game at stake. Of course it is a big deal. A competitive advantage, no matter how small, is still an advantage.

And Jare you are so right. None of us are giving up our own cellphones to our employer unless they get a subpoena for whatever they want it for.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Man, yall don't know what I would do if my employer asked me for my cell phone. What would you tell your boss if they asked you to hand over your cell phone?
NFL has zero right to any players personal property. Also, there isn't a rule in a book against players destroying their personal property.
To quote the deadspin article I read just now, or I guess paraphrase, the NFL is trying to sway public opinion and going with the "lack of a smoking gun is the smoking gun" approach. This whole situation is absurd.
The cheating was absurd, the fallout after was absurd, an Goodell's handling of it all is absurd. I'm over it. I wish Tom would just take the four games and we can all move on. He's definitely not been very smart about all this. I wish he just said "yeah it happened, my bad" and moved on.
Compared to PEDs and violently assaulting women, I really don't think this is that big of a deal. Funny how it's just cool to hate certain guys.Comment

Yes I would. Cheating is cheating. It would be an embarrassment. Idk why some fans don't get it.NFL- Green Bay Packers

Also, employers are allowed to police themselves.
Yes, it is true that you DON'T have to turn over private property to your employers during an internal investigation. But 1) Don't expect to keep your job, and 2) You don't get to agree to cooperate in an investigation, then not only proceed not to, but also hinder the investigation by obstructing & destroying potential evidence.

Re: NFL Off Topic
In actuality, there are 31 other multi billion dollar entities that would rather see the integrity (and by extension, the marketability) of the league as a whole served...
NBA had a huge perception problem in the late 70s, MLB after the steroid era and NHL after the lockout...
NFL ain't risking ANY version of that over this...
Those other 31 owners have as much of a stake in this as the league office, the Pats and Brady and I'm sure they'd rather that he / they stop trying to put their agendas above what's in the best interests of the league as a whole...
Like it or not, Brady didn't just lie to league office, he's lied to his teammates, coaches, franchise, fanbase and the public at large...
Not becoming behavior for the "face of the league"...
Period.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Yeah, this isn't exactly a 'if my employer...' situation unless you've got a collectively bargained conduct and labor policy.
Brady has reportedly given the Union the OK to file in federal court.
So next up is a venue fight and either a quick dismissal or a decision on an injunction to stay the suspension.Last edited by mestevo; 07-28-2015, 05:41 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I dont think many of you would willingly turnover personal items to your employer to assist them in proving their case against you.
Should have left it at the team level with the fines/loss of picks and moved on. Now we're going on 7 months with this circus with no end in sight...nonsense.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
If I had nothing to hide I gladly would and get it over with. It would be a distraction for the team, and being the leader of the team I would put my ego aside for the betterment of the franchise.Last edited by PeoplesChampGB; 07-28-2015, 05:53 PM.NFL- Green Bay Packers

The league was willing to make this go away at that point by accepting whatever was given to them...
The "nonsense" is courtesy Tom Brady / Don Ye and folks who don't take the time to learn the actual facts of the case...Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Geez Tom, was it so hard to just admit to it from the start and say that no one ever said you couldn't? Or better yet not do it at all? I still love Tom Brady and I always will, but man this has gone too far.Comment
