Your right... It's probably a common practice for the stars. But to burn the phone (after they requested it). Then be like "I burned it yesterday" looks really bad.

The NFL doesn't have to power to subpoena the phone company. Tom Brady can request all those text messages. But he has said the phone company has lost all those text messages. So anything on that phone (during that time) is gone. (that could be a lie as well).

That's why this situation smells bad for Tom. He could of literally erased any messages and then hand the phone over. No one of said anything of it. Its lazy on his part.

I think it smells bad for all parties involved.

Your right. It's smell for us (the fans). We have to listen to this stuff all year long.

I have friends who are defending this thing like crazy.

So he switched from Android to iPhone, so those old texts wouldn't migrate over to the new phone?

            What a reason to switch!

                    Unless the Pats go 0-4

Seriously, i'm so over this story. Tom Brady should be ashamed of himself. The arguments put forth on both sides of the coin here have been more constructive and worthwhile than a lot of the reporting of it though so that shows some smarts on our parts. I think we can all agree that Brady's resistance and obstruction is far worse than the entire deflategate thing. This whole story would've gone away if he had just admitted his wrongdoing, cooperated and been a good soldier. Goodell was actively looking for ways to shorten the suspension but Brady pulling out the victim card and doing things that makes him look guilty as hell forced Goodell to uphold the original punishment.

In the end Brady has no one to blame but himself for this mess and it's a major stain on his legacy. He's one of the greatest QBs of all time with an aura of teflon like protection. Unfortunately for Brady, he believed all the hype about being able to get away with anything and thus he has paid dearly for it.

Yet, he hasn't paid for anything at all (yet) and Goodell has no solid evidence of any wrong-doing.

                      Both parties look hilariously stupid.

                        Totally agree.

We already knew the NFL is great at bungling things or jumping too early. This is par for the course for them.

Brady, though. Thought he'd lawyer his way through this thing but every time he opens his mouth it comes off more disingenuous then the last words he muttered.

At this point, both are going to be embarrassed in court even if one "wins" the case.

I agree.... But the only thing I think is that Goodell hasn't shown any solid evidence (like you said). But he has shown that Brady hasn't worked with case. He basically burned evidence. That could of have cleared his name or get him in trouble. I think at the end of the day that is what will be the subject. It won't be the balls. It won't be the other people who were involved. It will be that he didn't cooperator with the investigation. When he burned his phone. Even though they requested it the day before.

No in court it all boils down to, did Goodell and the league follow the guidelines set forth by the CBA that was agreed to by the players and the owners.

Yea, sounds like your defending the whole thing. Lets just sit back and watch at this point.

I still think after all the dust settles. Brady will be missing 4 games.

Could anyone imagine if they suspend Brady for the Super Bowl?
