And any logical Pats fan would agree with you. I posted this yesterday, there is a reason why Brady didn't accept the offer. And it goes back to Goodell ****ing up with Spygate and destroying those tapes. The league offered Brady a one game suspen but he had to confess that he was involved in the deflating and apologize for it. Brady didn't want to do this and wanted Goodell to destroy all of the text evidence but Goodell couldn't do that because he would catch **** like does for destroying the Spygate tapes. So he couldn't destroy the evidence that he had on the Patriots again. And the evidence I am discussing was that he destroyed his phone days before their meeting. So that's why a deal couldn't get done.

Because that's all people are talking about, right? Tom Brady destroyed his cell phone. What better way to cast even more doubt on Tom Brady than a headline such as that. All you need in today's world is an attention grabbing headline. Court of public opinion is stronger than ever now.Comment

NFL Off Topic
I'm not saying the team or fanbase should turn on the guy, but I tend to agree with Bill Polian on this...
I'm going to have to paraphrase his comments, but they pretty much came down to him saying that it would be in the best overall interest of the team to have Brady accept the (alleged) offer of a one or two game suspension to get this thing over with and guarantee his availability for the most critical part of the season...
Obviously, Brady feels differently and the team and the fanbase are supporting him in that...great...that's their / your prerogative...
I just wonder how this is going to play out if it goes "worst case scenario"...
Not as nefarious as it may seem..."perverse curiosity" more than anything...
Additionally, I don't believe that "my" position is any more rational than the counter position...
It's ALL irrational, ergo the entertainment value...
I've realized that this is a topic that others take waaaaay more seriously than me, so I'll happily leave my shenanigans at the door...

**** Bill Polian.
Would Brady excepting a one or two game suspension be ideal? Sure, but at the same time I'm not going to get on the guy for fighting his case. Well within in right to do so. And he has done incredible things in the jersey I root for, so instead of fussing over his decision, I choose to take on a mindset of letting him have this one. The guy has taken pay cut after pay cut, was thrown out there for 20 minutes on an island alone in front of the media when this thing first hit, not to mention all the on the field accomplishments that helped make New England one of the most lucrative franchises in sports. Brady wanting to do something for Brady this one is something I'm gonna let him have with no pushback.Last edited by areobee401; 07-30-2015, 12:56 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
This a quote from illuminatus from the closed thread in the madden forum
The idea of going to court was easily foreseeable by all parties. It was raised as a possibility by damn near every news article that discussed the situation going all the way back to January, other players have sued with respect to suspensions they felt unjustified, and Brady has already litigated against the NFL in the past. They don't need to prove Brady had decided to sue. The fact that he had already retained legal counsel is, in itself, pretty clear evidence he was aware of the possibility. And if they told him to go ahead and destroy his phone after they had already received a request for its contents, they are giving blindingly bad adviceComment

From the judge over seeing the case.
“While this litigation is ongoing, it is appropriate (and helpful) for all counsel and all parties in this case to tone down their rhetoric.”
Could not agree more.Comment

No it really wasn't. Sorry, but I've been listening to sports radio since the beginning court was absolutely not "reasonably foreseeable" until the suspension came down. And your assertion that hiring legal counsel is evidence that he knew a court date was coming is also false he didn't start hiring lawyers until mid-may after the suspension was announced.Comment

And the reasonably foreseeable thing sounds like a legal term, so whatever our personal definitions of it are probably don't apply lol. It would be for the courts to decide IF the NFL tries to pursue that angle.NFL: Bills

Re: NFL Off Topic
I agree up until where you said the suspension came down, even then I didn't think this was going to court. I honestly thought Goodell was going to knock it down to a game or 2 and Brady was going to accept. It wasn't until Tuesday that I knew this was going to court.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I thought the recent report said that Brady was advised by his lawyers to destroy the phone, which happened during the investigation/before the suspension was announced, but maybe I was reading those reports/your post wrong?

I didn't assign any definition to the term. I've simply asked repeatedly how you prove something like that when there's no evidence to support it.Last edited by VdaStampede; 07-30-2015, 01:53 PM.Comment
