Honestly, if they were there for another year or two Cleveland might've ended up being a top team in the league except well, we all know what happened.
Team moved to Baltimore and won 2 superbowls?

Difference is, Kelly is younger and has always had his eyes fixed on eventually being a head coach in the NFL. Saban has already crashed and burned to the point that he basically quit on the Dolphins. I really don't see him going back to the NFL.

Saban has built such a dynasty at Alabama that I don't see him coming to the NFL.

The whole scheme is different. College is recruiting kids for little to nothing, and the NFL is a huge game of salary caps and player happiness. Would be a totally new world to step into even since when he left Miami.

I don't get the having failed miserably means he can't go back. Norv *** **** Turner got three head coaching jobs and you could say out side of Washington he failed at them too. Chargers got worse and worse every year with him. Kelly having eyes on the NFL didn't stop his agents from talking to Texas when they had an opening and won't stop his agents from talking to USC and or Miami this off-season.

The NFL is a vacation compared to the CFB for these guys. More money (sometimes), less hours and an actual off-season. There may not be a reason for him to leave Alabama other than to challenge himself, he is a football guy being in his 60s isn't crazy not to mention the pension for coaching in the NFL is a hell of a lot better than that of coaching in college.

Chip Kelly is also a lot younger. Also, everything that I've seen from when Saban was head coach in the NFL is that he didn't like the job at all - specifically the part where the players could talk back to him. Two different situations.

FWIW, I wasn't surprised when Chip took an NFL job.

                  Exactly.

Saban knows he can talk down to these dudes at Bama because it really is "His way or the highway". In the NFL, with all these egos, all it takes is one guy to stand up to him(IE the guy making the most money)and then others to follow them and it's a wrap from there. Especially if they're losing and failing to meet expectations or if the Coach is being too stubborn.

The "He wants a new challenge" card doesn't really hold much weight because he already did it before and failed at it(hence him quitting in the middle of the season and being in Bama a few days later).

So PPM what happened when guys stood up to Kelly in Philly?

Saban is going to ask/demand that kind of control to come to the NFL if he gets it and his other demands he takes the job.

You say the new challenge doesn't hold weight here but I'd counter with Pete Carroll.

None of us know what we don't know, but there are enough example plus Saban's own word ls about missing on the QB in Miami to me to believe if he comes to the NFL it would be for the Colts job. He has the QB and can hire someone to turn Luck loose while he fills the defense.

What he said. Much less room for error. Not that it's any easier, but if we're simply talking about him getting a free loss in college, you get a lot more of those in the NFL.

He won't have the recruiting/talent advantage over other teams.

He's a quitter so main reason he'd be hired is that Irsay would be looking to make a splash.
