I feel the same way. It's a huge jerk move (in a funny way), but what does it really do but rile up the Jets? Seeing as the Bills can't seem to handle themselves after the whistle, I don't want the Jets aggression to trigger our guys in to doing (more) dumb stuff.

I will say, Rex is consistent. It's not just stunts every now and then. He's always on this kick whether it blows up in his face or not. It's refreshing to an extent, but I prefer for football to be played within the lines and not this other, sensational junk. It has brought some life to Buffalo, though. His shtick wouldn't be needed in other markets, but he's really instilled a renewed pride among the team and fans. You know how much he legitimately loves every player on his team... which is why he's probably more suited to being a DC. He's insanely passionate, to the point that I can see times where it could hinder his ability to lead a team. But he loves the spotlight so much, I don't know if he'll ever be content being just a coordinator again.

Bowles might be a better coach but he definitely hasn't proven that yet.

The Jets wins haven't been impressive this year, but to even be 5-3 at this point has already made their season a success. I had 0 expectations for the Jets this season, especially with the Geno Smith jawbreaker in preseason. Bowles handled that like a pro and has continued to carry himself and his team impressively.

By their nature, the Jets weren't going to impress anyone this year. They are built around the run and defense. Those games are low scoring and physical but not entertaining like other teams method of winning. That stuff excites me though, and I'm very much looking forward to TNF between two similarly built teams.

How tight the Jets played NE may be their most impressive feat. I can't wait for round 2.

I said it about the Vikings weak schedule the first half of the year recently here, but beating the teams you should beat is sometimes more impressive then pulling an upset. I can't tell you how many times, even as the Bills have been pretty bad over the years, that I marked a game down as "should be a W" only for it to be a loss and see that we were a win or two short of the playoffs at the end of the year. I swear if the Jags game comes back to haunt us...

Gotta win the games you're supposed to!

So how long before the Steelers spend an early round pick on a QB?

Obviously Ben can still play, but he's getting older and seems to be injured often with the beating he takes. That offense is loaded with young talent, but gotta have a guy back there to run the offense. It might be better to line up a replacement sooner rather than later. Though their needs in defense probably come first at this point.

As for the whole Cam/banner thing, it's stupid and only in this day and age would it get attention like this, but I think it's kind of a dick move by Cam. The guy's a fan with a banner, it's not like it's providing some advantage to the Packers. That being said, it seems like this guy is being dramatic about the whole thing. Though $500 ain't exactly a throwaway.

I'm satisfied with what the Jets have done so far, but I think they're pretty much where they should be. And my expectations went up once Geno got knocked out.

Going forward, with injuries in the secondary and offensive line, I'm concerned.

Weren't the guy and his family at the Panthers game HOLDING the banner? If so, it was NOT a violation of stadium policy which says HANGING.

Either way, it was a classless thing for a QB to do. That should be left to stadium employees. If it was HANGING, the stadium employees should tell them to take it down or they will remove it and destroy it (which gives them the opportunity to NOT lose it).

Maybe at the next home game Cam can ride around in a golf cart in the parking lot before the game and burn any cars with an opposing bumper sticker.

          Grow up, you're the QB.

Regarding the banner, the fan needs to shut up and stop being a baby over it. Can't believe he is actually threatening legal action over this. There are times I hate our society.

As to whether or not Cam was in the wrong, I don't think so. Ideally I would want one of my defensive players to do that though. Generally I think the QB should not be involved in things like this. Just focus on the game. But it is Carolina's home stadium and to me ripping down a banner is a extension of the idea that the defense must "protect this house."

I'm a Ravens fan and if I see a Steeler banner hanging on the wall of the Bank I would want one of the Raven defenders ripping it down (Suggs most likely). If the QB does it though I would ask why he is looking at banners and why is he allowing that to get to him.

Yea these are my thoughts. The dude is out of my mind if he going to take legal actions and honestly if he goes to court he won't win. As Pack said the banner was hanging, which the Panthers have a policy against. I have no problem with an opposing banner being ripped down by a player. But I would rather have been Kuechly in all honestly.

"I was 'protecting my house', Your Honor."

Good luck with that when something so foolish incites riot.

That Harry High School Rah-Rah garbage is what ruins going to games for many people. I've seen people in this thread say, "I wouldn't take my wife or kids to a game", "I value my life", etc.

Cam is lucky this dude just wants money and that it didn't lead to a fight in the stands or after the game amongst fans.

There are a few things that lead to violence at stadiums.

                  1. Stupidity
                  2. Team "Spirit"
                  3. Alcohol

The guy provided the stupidity and Cam provided the "Spirit" (along with more stupidity). Taking it into your own hands, as a player, is a really bad idea.

What if this guy started yelling obscenities at Cam and someone decided to follow the guy out of the stadium and stab him in the parking lot? Stupider things have happened and Cam could be held liable for being the flash point instead of letting security do their job.

It's really dumb on Cam's part.

You are way off base here.

You are taking this event and stretching it to an extreme outcome to prove a point. So because there exists the possibility that Cam tearing down the banner could result in someone getting stabbed Cam should not have did what he did. Using that logic fans should not be allowed to wear any team apparel to sporting events, as it could lead to violence.

And in your hypothetical stabbing incident there is no way whatsoever that Cam would be held liable. Liable is a legal term so I am assuming you are using it in a legal context (further illustrated by use of "your honor").

If a visiting team fan wishes to cheer their team on and wear their apparel that is different. It is absolutely fine and they should not be bothered/harassed.

At any rate, it is better for the team to simply have a policy against such signage and enforce it. No idea why Carolina allowed this fan to be exempt from that policy. That is the real stupid move.

When I said "liable" I simply meant sued (win or lose is another discussion).

That said, Cam destroyed property and served his own brand of justice instead of letting those with the authority to do so take care of it.

However you slice it, it was stupid.

EDIT: In addition, you're thinking like a guy with your wallet not like a guy with Cam's wallet.

Sure, a jersey could incite riot but no one is looking to sue Joe Fan. Just like in my scenario the "victim's" family is not going to sue the guy with the knife. They're going after Cam, the Panthers and the stadium.

If his Pep Rally pom-poms hurt so bad, he should have just pointed it out to security and let the proper authorities handle it by the book.

I do agree, they're going to have to get a QB early soon, even healthy Ben is nearing the end of the line. The problem with the Steelers drafting is that they like to take undersized CB and LB prospects. A bunch of wasted third round picks recently.

I wonder if this would be a good year for it, the QB class is weak so if one of Goff/Lynch or anyone else that makes noise before the draft slips to wherever Pitt drafts, might be a good time to start grooming someone.

On the other hand he's only 33 and it'll probably be a long time before he declines/retires so maybe hold off and keep drafting DE/LBs
