    Re: NFL Off Topic

When I was a kid I looked forward to the pregame shows more than the game lol (don't forget I'm a Lions fan, so it makes sense). Now I do everything in my power to wait until exactly 1pm to turn the channel on, it's like I don't want to watch a single second of them sitting around laughing.

But I'm at the point where I don't watch pregame, halftime, or postgame anymore, or a player/coach interview from the sideline or during an afternoon sports show. Interviews are so boring

While I wouldn't say interviews are so boring because I sometimes like hearing what the coach has to say (i'm mostly talking about radio interviews) and sometimes you get a nugget of information that you can appreciate.

It's the TV side of things where it just sucks to no end. I'm with you, I generally avoid the pre, half and post game shows.

When I do catch it, I like the interaction and information from Shaun O'Hara and Brian Billick. Michael Robinson is starting to grow on me as well.

As for the other pregame stuff...It's all crap.

        Yeah, Billick is awesome overall.

Especially the post game shows/interviews . They always ask the dumbest questions and get the most cliched answers.

Reporter: "Why do you think you guys were able to go out there and win tonight?"
Player: "Well we just went out there and executed. We practiced hard all week and we just came prepared."

So, ESPN would rather have a respectability politics preaching, sexist, clown-*** yes-man in Jason Whitlock, rather than occasional homer but otherwise great Bill Simmons?

What...? ESPN has moved on from Whitlock about 2-3 months ago also.

This is the same Mike Mayock that said Ryan Mallett should had first round talent, right?

Actually, Whitlock left last month. His site, The Undefeated, is supposed to be urban marketed version of Grantland.

Technically I guess but they took the undefeated from him 2-3 months ago which was pretty much the end of his time there.

If we're being upset that ESPN still employs X and shut down Grantland then the correct solution for X is Skip Bayless.

                            NFL Off Topic

                            Is this dude serious?

The Green Bay Packers banner that Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton snatched down before the Packers-Panthers game in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon belongs Mike Dobs of Fayetteville.

                            And Dobs wants it back.

“I was just shocked, shocked,” when Newton grabbed the banner out of Dobs’ and his family’s hands, Dobs said on Sunday evening.

“It went from a fun event to I was disgusted,” he said.

Dobs wants the banner back so badly -- he said he paid $500 to have it made last year to hang in his home’s “man room” -- that he told the police at the stadium that it was stolen, and he complained to the Panthers’ management.

It’s Dobs’ understanding that the banner was destroyed. He said a Panthers employee told him the organization would make it up to him.

He said he will give them 48 hours before he takes further action.

The canvas banner was 8 feet by 3 feet and has a map of North Carolina in green with the Green Bay logo in the middle. It says “North Carolina Cheesehead.”

Fayetteville residents may recall that Dobs, who is a Wisconsin native, was a candidate in the Fayeteville City Council election last week. He lost to incumbent Mitch Colvin. Dobs is a retired Army command sergeant major and works at Fort Bragg.

Dobs said he and his family spent $3,800 on tickets for the game. The group included Dobs, his wife, his daughter and her husband, and his son Mike Jr., who is a specialist in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg.

Dobs said he has taken the banner to other games -- though none before in Charlotte -- and obtained permission from Panthers personnel at the stadium to hold up the banner.

“We were on the front row, over there by the goalposts, and we wanted our grandkids to see us on TV,” Dobs said.

The Dobs family was excited when they saw Newton running up to them. One member took a picture as he approached.

“We thought he was going to sign our banner -- we were happy to see him -- and he ripped it out of our hands,” Dobs said.

Media reports say Newton thought it was wrong for someone to display a Green Bay banner in the Panthers’ stadium.

“That don’t match. I feel it’s my due diligence to protect this house,” the Gaston Gazette reported. “We played in Green Bay last year and I didn’t see no ‘Panther Country’ signs up there."

If the dude really did pay 500 dollars for it then yeah he has a right to be pissed off. I dont see why theres a problem, Newton should be made to replace it.

If the part in your original unedited post is right then he won't get anything from the Panthers. This being that they can't hang any non Panthers signs, banners, etc.
