Aqib Talib: Eye poke was an “honest mistake”

“You guys ever played football? You ever lost, at the end of the game? If you can remember back at how that feels, that’s how I felt,” Talib said, via the Denver Post. “I was just mad, man. It was the heat of the moment. “You think I play football to poke people in the eye? It was an honest mistake. From my angle, I see [Allen] head butt Von a little bit. I went over to poke his head, and I think my hand slipped and hit his face. He acted like he got in an 18-passenger car wreck. I guess that’s what type of guy he is.”

While I know it is all in fun, I am uncomfortable with these McDonald's commercials with Jerry Rice in the Cowboys gear, and Ditka in the Packers sweater. Just doesn't feel right.

I love them. Mostly because I know there are so many fans who will have issues with it. They should have had Jerry wear a Seahawks jersey. Oh wait, already happened...

No he shouldn't and neither should the team.

                  This is the team's policy
No banners or flags expressing support of visiting teams may be affixed to or displayed on any surface. Hand held signs or posters that are in compliance with the balance of this policy are acceptable
Second of all, he's a damn fool for paying $500 for a damn sign and a bigger fool to actually think a player of the OPPOSING TEAM would sign it.

This smells like sour grapes because his team lost.

I'm actually surprised anybody has an issue with it.

This. You wanna make a ****ing banner and go to a visiting stadium and splay it around...so be it. If something happens to it, so be it. I'm sure the $500 covers the cost of the tix more than that cheap *** sign.

The story you posted stated he got permission from Panthers personnel to hang the banner before doing so.

Article said he got the banner cleared by Panthers people.

But I pretty much agree that you bring a big *** banner like that to an opposing team's stadium, and whatever happens is gonna happen. It's one thing to represent your team and you should feel safe enough to do so by wearing a jersey or other apparel. But a big ole banner? You're inviting people to mess with you and your stuff.

You will not catch me in Philly with a Bills sign when they play later this year. I value life.

What's that policy say about removal/disposal of signage, etc? Pretty sure Cam got a nice talk about not just escalating to the security or facilities team. The team has reached out to the family to try and make things right.

Not being allowed to do something doesn't provide carte blanche to respond to that.

While the guy had permission from the Panthers organization that's just bad etiquette. He should know that something like that was going to happen. I don't understand why he'd bring that with him in the first place if it costs so much and is a prized possession in his man cave but hey...People do stupid things all the time.

He had $3800 in tickets for that game between him and the family with him, the sign was a relative drop in the bucket.
