Two thoughts on today's Greg Hardy mess (there's always something, isn't there?):

Being completely insensitive for a moment - if the NFL were to try to suspend Greg Hardy again, I imagine the NFLPA will fight it tooth and nail. Hardy has already served his suspension for this incident, and this would be an open-shut case of double-jeopardy (which I'm assuming the CBA doesn't allow). The emergence of photos, whether we like it or not, doesn't really change that.

That said - I could see the Cowboys cutting ties with Hardy and moving on. I don't know how likely that is, because he's the best player on the defense this year and it's not really close. They did just move on from Joseph Randle for his shady background, however.

We'll see what happens. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

I will say that both of you have a point. It is obvious why they're selling #7 a lot right now, but LSU does have a history of top level players wearing #7. Still, each of them were losing out when they attended LSU.

Worst part is, Hardy is doing way too much to be acting the way he does on the sidelines and in the locker room.

You're pretty much bang on on the whole double jeopardy thing but if the Cowboys were to release him that'd be one way to punish him without making it look like a directive on high though i'm sure the NFLPA would scream collusion if that happened and no one else extended an offer to him.

Honestly, this guy is a piece of garbage and doesn't deserve the privilege of playing in the NFL.

I don't see Jerry parting ways with Hardy, not mid-season anyway. I don't think off-the-field drama bothers Jerry & co as much as on-the-field or on the sideline. Randle was an idiot off the field and an idiot on it, not listening to coaches, running his mouth, and generally being immature. Sadly, if they cared about off-the-field antics as much as they should, Randle wouldn't have ever started a game for us as his incident happened back in February. I also get the feeling Jerry's already seen all of this.

All this "outrage" over documents and statements that have been out there for a while seems to me almost fake. All the stuff that deadspin is reporting has been out there if you wanted to look for/find it. I'm no Hardy apologist and think he is scum, but this is a case of whats done is done. He served his suspension (beat the NFL in their after the fact "justice" to feign that they care about DV.) and there really is nothing more that can be done until he starts to beat up on the next woman dumb enough to let herself date/sex/whatever with Greg Hardy.

Must be a slow NFL news day.

And there were pictures of her after the attack out long before this if anyone was so inclined. I guess my point is this if we need picture and documents two years after the fact to be "upset" that Greg Hardy still gets to make money playing football, are we any better than the NFL?

As Jr. says it's more the pictures rather than the documents. I'm sure if you were curious enough one could apply for a FOI act decree in order to obtain the reports (while they've been out there the totality hasn't been made publicly available) but it's the pictures that are damning. It's one thing to read what he did but it's another to see just how badly he treated the woman. It's similar to the Adrian Peterson thing in that regard. Either way, I think we can all agree that Hardy is a scumbag. I don't think a suspension is the way to go but if the Cowboys wanted to they could just cut him and no one would jump up to defend him other than the PA.

Some documents were, not all. I don't recall seeing any pictures, though.

Deadspin has obtained hundreds of pages of those records, some previously reported—police reports, interview transcripts, and more. Photos, dozens of them, show bruises over much of Holder’s body, including her back, her arms, her legs, her chin, her neck, and even her foot.

Deadspin wrote a piece on the photos a little while back too.

You are correct I may have confused her with someone else, so on that I may be worng, I am trying to think back to when this first happened I could've sworn I saw some of them. So I may be wrong on that and I'll own that.

What exactly do people think domestic violence looks like? No punishment should be driven by emotion... pictures don't change what happened.

I thought we all learned this lesson with Rice. The story being less impactful then the pictures/video. Quoted you wwharton but not talking to you since we're on the same page.

I mean, the story said that he slammed her down on to a couch full of guns. That's pretty disturbing just to read. I'd prefer not to see the photos, that tells me all I need to know.

Just like for domestic violence on a broader level, the seriousness of it doesn't hit home until it actually hits home.

Hardy doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt, but he's done a year off and then games this year. He's been punished.

Punishing people two times or three times over for the same thing isn't right.
