I've heard that the NFL is angling for internet distribution. Honestly I think that's going too far. You'd probably have to pay through the nose for what amounts to a crappy schedule of games.

But we have been paying for it.

It's not a coincidence that during the same period the NFL and other sports leagues are inking higher and higher TV rights deals, the average cable bills have been going up.

Sports are the one type of programming preventing even more widespread cord cutting.

Apple would be dumb to bid for the Thursday package. They should go for streaming rights to all games if they're going to bid at all.

But I wouldn't mind the NFL and the others get stopped on ev ever higher tv contracts.

You pay for cable not the local channels. All of those are free you just need one of those digital antennas. The biggest problem with streaming a game is the Internet structure in America. Not everyone has fast enough internet or unlimited internet data. Cable is expensive for many reasons but the fact it's basically a monopoly doesn't help. How many cable providers are in your area? ATT bought out Direct TV so it's basically them or Comcast for the Houston area.

You just said Johnny is a like a teenager lying to his parents for no good reason lol.

My point is if he's always had a way with words, and this seems like an easy situation use that particular skill, why deviate now?

You misunderstood, he is not deviating at all.

You say he has a way with words; he says the right things but his actions don't back up his words. We call that a BSer. One of the tools they use is to lie (trust me, I am a level 99 BSer). The only difference is this time he got caught in the lie.

You are probably thinking he should have just BS'ed by saying yes, he went out drinking but he did so responsibly and it didn't interfere with his job. But Johnny realizes there is only so many times you can apologize and promise to do better, so he decided to say no, that was taken from before I promised to do better, but I'm a changed man now.

Yes, it was a dumb decision but it was no different from any other time where he thought what would be the best thing to say to escape or minimize punishment.

I pay $70 a year for all the games from 2009-current season through the NFL Game Pass (formerly Game Rewind) subscription service. This year they raised the price from $69.99 to $99.99. I threw a fit and they gave it to me for the $69.99 price. Not sure if I am fan enough to pay $100 for it next year if they don't offer me the same deal. Being able to stream games live, as game rewind is the hours/days after games air might be the thing that makes $100 worth it too me, but not sure how their Direct TV partnership would be affected by that.

Honestly, I think the NFL should try something like what McMahon has done with WWE Network. It's taken them a while but they've finally gotten a foothold in subscription rates. This is the NFL we're talking about though and if they charge $100 bucks or more for a service there should be an incentive like that with a vault of all (or as many as they have) games from 1990 to now at the very least. It would be a way to celebrate the history of the game while at the same time giving fans the current day product.
