If Henne can play like he has for the past two games over the course of the next year or two I would take him over Geno or Barkely. As long as we are competitive. It can't get worse than this year.. although I said that last year. I had pretty high expectations coming into this year. Maybe we can draft a guy like Tyler Wilson, Seth Degge (forgot how to spell his name and I go there.. how sad) or Landry Jones and develop them under Henne kind of like how Russell Wilson was supposed to sit behind Flynn in Seattle.

Not sold on Henne being a franchise QB, which the Jags need. If the Jags get a shot at a top tier QB they should take it, not rely on Henne who at his best still isn't a top tier QB IMO.

Gabbert was just a bad pick. Prime example of a guy who gets hyped up by the McShays of the world when they seem him at the draft combine.

Henne isn't a franchise QB, but if the Jags don't think their franchise QB is in this draft he buys them a year and one more draft class to hope they find one in the 2014 draft.

If there's one thing I know about the Jags post-1999, it's that the Jags will make the WRONG choice.

In that case, better go out and buy a Geno Smith jersey

I never liked the Gabbert pick. Why not just build the rest of your team up first. They need help in other areas, right? It's not like their young QB, if they draft one, would have anyone to throw to.

They cant abort on Gabbert after two years. Isnt it the 4th year that it starts to really tick?

But seriously, Gabbert was a product of the ESPN draft coverage machine. He had a mediocre college season; when he was projected top 10 I was so puzzled. I remember the discussions were about who to take first between him and Newton.

Gabbert hasn't shown any improvement from year one to two except during this years pre season. He's too scared an doesn't have any command

Actually, Receiver is something I am very optimistic about in Jacksonville. Cecil Shorts is leading the way with 36 receptions for 736 yards and is averaging over 20 yards a catch. He Is our play maker. Justin Blackmon (still leads all rookie receivers in yards) is finally starting to produce. In Houston he had a career high 236 receiving yards and just looks overall better. It helps a lot with Henne at QB.

Gabbert did show some improvement. It just wasn't at a consistent enough level. He looked better in the pocket this season and showed some promise. Not saying he is the answer, but he did improve upon last season.

Teams are giving QBs shorter time to progress, especially given how many young QBs are succeeding in the league today (Dalton, Luck, RG3, Wilson, Tannehill).

Are they though? I cant think of any 1st round QBs that havent been given a fair shot in recent memory.

I think most QBs are given 3 years usually. Been that way as far as I can remember, although there have been some exceptions to that.

I know that, I'm just saying that it may be changing now given how other young QBs are coming in and finding success quickly after being drafted. Maybe I should have said it may be changing now, especially considering that it's turning into more and more of a pass friendly league now.
