Re: NFL Off Topic
I can only assume it's the latter going by the details so far. It's hard for me to figure out how someone like that can react in such a way but we're all very different people I guess.
It's always difficult for me to wrap my head around something like this, given gun control isn't such an issue over here. Pretty scary just thinking anyone can have a gun and use it in anger.NFL- Green Bay Packers
NCAA- Florida State Seminoles
NHL- Carolina HurricanesComment

That hit from '98 would still be legal today, imo.

Re: NFL Off Topic
I don't think it was a horrible example, and saying it is a horrible example will not convince me it was. Cheesers use game mechanics in unintended ways to exploit the game to their benefit. The Ravens used a loophole to exploit the rulebook in their favor. I think it is fairly straightforward.
How is stating that it is just a damn videogame not implying that I am putting undue importance on it?Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: NFL Off Topic
The block itself isn't really being called for targeting.. just helmet to helmet if the contact is there and even that is still hit or miss (no pun intended).Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Real life Ravens used an exploit in the rulebook to their benefit.
Madden cheesers use exploits in the game mechanics/programming to their benefit.
I consider both to be loopholes. From wikipedia: A loophole is an ambiguity or inadequacy in a system, such as a law or security, which can be used to circumvent or otherwise avoid the purpose, implied or explicitly stated, of the system.
Here is why I think it is in violation of the spirit of the game and why they should change the rule in the offseason:
1. Ravens intentionally committed a penalty(s) and not only were not punished for it they were rewarded.
2. What could the Bengals do in that situation to defend against this tactic? I don't see a recourse for them. You guys tell me what they could have done.Comment

It should not be this difficult to grasp.

Played better the rest of the game so they weren't in that situation. Unlike a lot of game exploits which can be used all game long, this is very particular to this situation. They did it in the Super Bowl, so it's not like it's something new. NFL had the chance to close it then and didn't so apparently it's in the spirit of the game. This isn't a programming error/limitation.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Von Miller sent a custom bottle of wine and this message to every player in the AFC West, including practice squad guys.
It is an honor and a privilege to take the field and compete with you twice a year. We are so fortunate to have this opportunity to fulfill our childhood dreams of playing in the NFL. The blood, sweat, aches and pains, and endless hours spent watching film are a testament to the love and dedication we have for this game. So take a moment, reflect on all your successes, and enjoy your accomplishment. Appreciate those who have helped you get this far, and start working towards your next childhood dream.
Thank you for helping to make our game great!

Loosely related, we make wine as an IT a team outing annually, a lot of fun and neat process - and I don't even like wine.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Man who shot and killed McKnight might never be charged.
The shooting happened from the shooters vehicle, and a variant of the 'stand your ground' laws related to carjackings could protect him from prosecution or at least provide the mechanisms to successfully defend him. The shooter did not stand over McKnight and shoot him again, all shots were from inside the car. There's no video of the shooting, and they're still working on finding witnesses. They aren't providing many more details.Comment
