    NFL Off Topic

Where’s the lie? He’s the one out there playing so he’s to blame but the coaches clearly seem like they’re trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole. I thought they figured out to play to Fields’ strengths last year?

Yes, Fields needs to improve in areas any good QB should be proficient in. But while doing that, help him out schematically.

Fields needs to improve and the coaching staff needs to evolve and improve as well. I think Fields has been accountable for his role but he’s also holding coaches accountable. Small chance the coaches actually accept it and grow with him, but he’s not wrong.

And at the end of the day, this is on the GM who drafted him too and made a serious commitment to him by trading out of the 1st overall pick. This year it seems they kind of pulled the rug out from under him with this half *** offense and can’t figure out why. It’s looking ugly in chicago. Again.

Good. There are absolutely things that are on him (like sometimes just throw. the. ****ing. ball.) but we can see from watching the game that they've been coaching him to play differently than he has his whole life and it's clearly screwing him up.

Edit: Watched his comments in full - it's much less blaming the coaching than Twitter is going to be focused on. The general feeling is (these are my words, not his) that he's trying to play exactly to what the coaching was vs playing to his instincts and he's going to find a balance between those. He was specifically asked about a strip sack play that he would've normally scrambled on and more or less says he was trying to stay in the pocket because they focused on that in the offseason, etc.

      tl;dr - he says he's overthinking

I'm sure it will all get sorted out and he will be a reliable, successful starter in the league for years to come...

I mean, QBs don't need "so much info", just look at Kyler.

Like he said, the coaches are "giving me what to look at and stuff like that, but at the end of the day I can't be thinking about that when the game comes."

Thinking and info...not needed for today's super-gifted athletic QBs.

Coaches need to adjust, and expectations should be managed. 52% completion rates are totally fine.
        Australian Rules Football...just sayin'

Just move to RB and he won’t have to deal with these questions.

Especially since that’s what HE is.

News moves fast so I might have missed something but as far as I can tell...Alan Williams resigned (citing his health?) but there's no evidence of a raid happening, let alone Peanut Tillman having any role in it.

Some local beat reporters said they have been under the impression that Williams has been out this week for reasons that weren't health-related, but I don't think anyone has said more than that.

The specific allegations at this point seem to just come from one guy maybe trying to draw listeners to his podcast?

There is definitely something fishy going on with the resignation. The statement the Bears gave on him resigning isn’t what you’d expect from a guy resigning for health reasons.

Yeah there’s something else to it, but seeing people run with the Twitter speculation off of what one random nobody said? That’s too serious of an accusation to just be throwing around.

                        People are gullible online, man.

All it takes is having a blue check next to your name, a few thousand followers and your word will get taken as gospel real quick, verification be damned.

A blue checkmark you don't recognize is the biggest red flag on the platform now, because they get paid for driving engagement.

I'd have posted the Halas Hall stuff before it was mentioned here if someone other than that guy was reporting it at the time.

In other strange drama... Chandler Jones. Raiders put him on the NFI list, some weird stuff still going on there.

The Chandler Jones stuff is very odd. Really have no idea what the hell is going on there.
