Re: NFL Off Topic
Is there a rule mandating a team kick the extra point?
No, it comes as a strategical decision.
No?Last edited by kehlis; 01-21-2014, 10:26 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Cute.
I just used this particular situation as an example of how whenever the NFL proposes doing anything, people lose their minds and act like it's the end of football as we know it.
I don't see the argument FOR the extra point here, other than "that's how it's always been", which becomes the argument for every NFL related issue and is itself a horrible argument.
Things evolve sometimes. The goal posts used to be on the goalline, there was no two point conversion, missed field goals used to be placed at the 20 yard line instead of the line of scrimmage. All of these changes, I have no doubt, would've been vehemently opposed by the public if they had the internet as a voice back then under the "it's fine as it is!" clause.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

It's okay if people are hesitant to have it removed nor does it mean people are afraid of change.
It's okay to have a different opinion and it doesn't mean anything like you are making it out to mean. We can all have different opinions and it's okay.
We don't need you to say things like "cute" and "that's adorable". That's a little unnecessary.
The odds of a missed PAT are .9%. Obviously a minuscule number.
The snap and the hold is a very underrated part of the PAT. Teams practice this tirelessly for both extra points and field goals.
If your opinion is that they should just go away then that's fine.
But there is no need to belittle those who disagree with that opinion.Comment

Sooo, Marshawn Lynch did an interview with NFLJapan. Talking about Japanese candy. I don't remember the last time I've seen him speak this much.

Re: NFL Off Topic
If they get rid of the PAT then when else am I going to waste 5-10 minutes using the bathroom and getting food?
I would like to see something done to make it matter a little bit more. I don't think it needs to be taken out completely, but its basically just padding scores even if its by 1 point intervals.

Re: NFL Off Topic
I haven't watched this play in a while, and even as someone who doesn't like the Cowboys, it's pretty damn hard to watch. I think even more so now just because of how much this one play and one mistake has defined Romo for the rest of his career.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide

While a lot of people hate change, I think the constant rule adjustments are one reason the NFL is the top rated sport in the country. By contrast, Basesball is very resistant to change. Baseball games used to be much shorter before the days of TV breaks, 8+ pitching changes per game, batters stepping out of the box each pitch for whole routine etc. Baseball never adjusted to the evolution, many games are now 4+ hours, and it is no longer the most popular sport in this country.Comment
