    Re: NFL Off Topic

This guy needs to get it all taken away to understand how much he has

If that doesn't work, and it wouldn't surprise me seeing as how he's already up for a long suspension, just kick him out of the league. He's disgracing the league, the team, and mostly himself. Not to mention letting down his teammates and fans.

I like him as a player, I really bought in from the beginning. But man oh man, does this guy have a problem.

And apparently a convicted felon with more pending drug charges posted the bond for Gordon's bail.

That is probably the most alarming part of this story for me.

Ok Gordon needs to go away.

I know the Browns don't have a WR, but I'm sick of his troubles. I'd rather have another losing season than have this punk on the roster. (Hell, I'm used to not winning. Ain't gonna hurt me!)

i'm starting to agree as we'll I can now see why 31 other teams didn't draft him with all stuff in college and now same things in pro's..... I think he could be one the best he just needs to get his stuff together...before his or others life's end tragic.

While I think there is about a 0% chance he makes it back to the NFL at this point the Browns might as well keep him, he isn't on the roster so they aren't paying him and in the extremely unlikely chance he does get himself turned around why cut him and let some other team reap the benefits after you've put up with this much?

Just ride it out at this point, odds are he'll never be back and you aren't paying him if he doesn't make it back.

Wouldn't blame the team for cutting ties but after putting up with this much might as well see it through.

I dunno, I think if I were a Browns fan I'd rather see the Browns try to help out Josh Gordon with a very hands-on approach to try and turn his life around during his presumably-inevitable year-long suspension, similar to how the Cowboys initially handled Dez Bryant when Bryant was a younger player (he's now one of the more mature players on the team, apparently).

Gordon caught passes for 1600+ yards last year, he's clearly got football talent worth keeping around if he can get his head on straight. IMO it's worth the effort to help him out, the potential return on investment to that end is pretty high.

Browns can't have any contact during the suspension. Other players can, but no team personnel. It's basically the same issue the Jags are having. Blackman supposedly has finally checked into rehab. Team will keep him on the roster until he is back or retires. They may trade him immediately, but they won't cut him.

More reason for him to hang around the same people. Oh that dude had my back when I was in a bind. Probably just lead to more arrests.

It's crazy that these two players (Blackmon & Gordon) are going down similar paths. They coulda been the next gen of great WR's, instead they're wasting some of their formative years, if they even do make it back.

This strikes me as really counterproductive policy.

He's no Randy Moss. I say get rid of him.

It has to do with HIPPA laws and CBA. The NFL has programs and will provide help if asked, but teams can't.

Josh Gordon now has to choose what is more important. Football or the streets. If he can get help and change his attitude, someone will give him a second chance. As long as he can workout some, long term rehab might be best. He is gone for at least a year.

                              With the CBA perhaps.

HIPAA doesn't really apply to the NFL teams, since they aren't considered a "covered entity." (this is said by the DHHS) See: all the struggles with former players accessing medical records.

Teams know about these things. The player's status in whatever substance-abuse program is supposed to be "secret" until a suspension is finalized. See: Josh Freeman's stuff getting leaked from the Buccaneers last year.

Man Johnny Football and Josh Gordon were the future. The Browns really are cursed. Well I guess we know what they need going into the next draft and FA period.
