Pick up a rookie 300lbs rookie defensive lineman and try dumping him into an ice bath and see what happens.

I have no problem with hazing and stuff in good fun...popcorn in the car..tying dudes up to goalposts..etc.

But they were punking Prince. Some high school stuff.

      I agree

They want him to have more "swag". JPP and his buddies were being dolts, and deserve a good ole Coughlin scolding, if not more. Prince wanted nothing to do with that idiocy, that was obvious.

Troy P is one of the most quiet players to play the game. He doesn't need "swag" to be looked on as one of the best. I respect these quiet scholars of the game. Unfortunately, they are a dying breed.

      Teammates need to mature.

Didn't quote the post (sorry) but the thought that you can't just replace MJD or any running back is crazy. MJD himself got notice in the preseason and came on the heels of Fred Taylor... who was on the heels of Stewart. We can go across the league and through history to find backs that turned into stars on his level just by having a guy in front of them move out of the way.

I'm not saying that's what Jennings is but it makes no sense to say that's what he's not. And building a team strictly around MJD clearly hasn't been working so they'd like to spread their money around to build other areas (franchise QB, potential elite WR, signed Robinson as the #2 WR, etc). Dude is currently being paid plenty. This is not a Chris Johnson situation.

Can MJD be replaced? yes.. will it be the same... no. It would be hard to replace his production but I am confident Jennings can be very good. Infact in 2010 before his injury Jennings averaged 5.5 yards a carry and scored 4 TD's. Plus he is averaging 5.1 yards a carry this preseason so I am confident he can help carry the load if he has too. It's still not the same as MJD. Just like if the Ravens lost Rice they would loose a lot of production. He's replaceable, but you would hope you don't have too.

Just want to preface this by saying I agree with you... we're on the same page.

With that said, it wouldn't be like the Ravens losing Rice bc the Ravens are a SB contender at best, and expected to be a lock for the playoffs at worse. In short, the assumption is that losing Rice would put a huge hit on their chances of winning the trophy.

The Jags, on the other hand, haven't been in contention even with arguably the best back in the league. So it makes a lot more sense for them to take a chance on restructuring their offense if necessary. Basically Rice would have more leverage in this situation than MJD does.

I would actually say they are on the same page now. With actual coaches, gameplan, WRs, and a QB benefiting from all those the Jags offense can be very similar to the Ravens. Both defenses are very good, so I think as long as Gabbert plays well the teams will be close.

MJD may have his best year yet, maybe not in total rushing yards, but defenses cannot put 8-10 guys in the box now. With the Jags able to spread the field and the defense only able to keep 7 in box and having to cover WRs over the middle, I can't wait for MJD to run through those holes. If he can get to the LBs and DBs 5 yards down field, look out.

You're looking at whether or not the teams are close (assuming MJD is on the Jags of course) which I won't get into with you since we're both STRONGLY on opposite sides of the podium here.

What I'm saying is when either of these teams are looking at how they want to move forward, Ray Rice walking into the office saying that he's going to hold out carries a lot more weight than MJD. Even if we go with the assumption that the teams are close with MJD in camp, that's still an assumption of what the Jags can become. The Ravens are already there and have been for years. With MJD's production, the Jags as a team have failed.

His production is great, so they aren't going to laugh in his face but the ripple effects of the Ravens having no Ray Rice bc the FO won't pay him are much bigger. The Jags organization and fans (should) care more about them putting together a winner than appeasing a running back. It'd be a lot easier to convince them that can happen with MJD pouting at home than it would be to convince the same of the Ravens organization and fans with Rice at home because the results are already there.

I wouldn't say so much as that we have failed but more so that we are rebuilding. I agree with you that in terms that Rice means more to the Ravens because you know they are going to (probably) be a contender. I firmly believe the Jags will contend for a wild card this season and surprise people. If they do as well as I think they will then MJD will be just as important to them.

Jags defense looking good. Held the Ravens out of the endzone after they got a first and goal.

The Jags defense hasn't looked good all preseason. The 2 starting LBs being out and the other starter having to play out of position, plus the issues at CB haven't allowed them to look good. They had previously stepped up and stopped teams from scoring TDs, but that was it.

I think the coaches were hoping for a game like this so they could get the guys to refocus before the season starts. A lot of the play calls didn't make any sense.

It was not a good outing in any fashion or form. We are missing a lot of starters on defense though. I will go ahead and say Blackmon is by far our best receiver already.. I am a little worried about Robinson but it's still only preseason. Good to see Gabbert go three preseason games with no Int's.

Not to mention our offensive play calling has been very vanilla. I mean throw some deep passes to Blackmon.. I'm confident he will come down with at least half of them with the way he fights for the ball.

As you said its a Vanilla offense. They probably aren't going to show much right now. Come the regular season I'm sure you will see some deep balls to Blackmon.
