I dont know if its fair but it is definitely smart of the Cowboys and smart for Dez if he abides by them.

If he were to refuse to accept these rules I could understand his view but I would think he were dumb for refusing them. But by all accounts he has responded positively to the imposed rules.

I've been watching the Dan Patrick Show this morning and they're saying that Dez imposed these rules himself. I haven't heard where they got that from though.

I think it's a joke. If he can't stay out of trouble himself then kick him out the league. You shouldn't need to give special treatment to him. He's a grown man.

I agree with that, but the Cowboys don't want to do that because they would lose their investment and the draft pick would be wasted. The Cowboys want him to stay out of trouble at least until the contract is up.

Yea I understand that. It's more of a joke when it comes to Dez Bryant the person.

Agreed. He's the only one that can make those changes in his life. Relying on others like this isn't going to help him in the long run.

I don't know if this is the right area to post this but am I the only one that thinks the Jags should ship MJD out?

I mean its only preseason but lets have a look at some stuff:

1- Blain Gabbert has played very well in the Preseason or at the least a lot better than last year. He seems more composed and his throws dont seem to be way off target as much as last year.

2- Jennings has been solid so far, I really think that the Jags can get a decent season out of him and really develop as the HB in Jacksonville.

3- Jacksonville should get a solid deal out of a MJD trade right now that could give them some weapons or draft picks for this year or the years to come.

I was just giving my take on the situation. MJD doesnt seem to have any leverage on the Hold out right now and it seems like this could be jacksonvilles chance to get something out of him. If he wants to really stay in Jacksonville and play for them then he would end this hold out and play the contract he signed on the dotted line for.

That is the problem. No one wants to give anything up. The rumors are that he is only worth a 4th or 5th round pick. If a team offered a 1 or 2 & more, then I think the Jags would take it. He is a RB who is getting old and has a lot of hits, he has no value.

I'd say he would have some value for a team that wants to win now. If this whole situation had come up prior to the draft, I'd be willing to bet some team would have been willing to give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick. That would also had meant allowing him to work into any new system he'd be put in, which isn't as big a factor for RBs as QBs of course but still can be a factor.

Now with the season just about to start, teams aren't as willing to pull that trigger of giving up a high round pick for a guy in a position that may or may not be a difference maker. That and the new CBA making draft picks more valuable also plays a factor.

The funny thing is while he has no value to others he still has value to us. Lets say he has another 4 good years in him which I believe he does (especially if he splits carries). I could see him finishing with close to 12 thousands career rushing yards and that by all means is a really good career for a running back.

He was holding out prior to the Draft though, wasn't he?

Yeah but i don't remember him demanding a trade back then.

Not that he could've anyway because he had no leverage, just like he does now.

I thought he just said he was open to a trade though. Didn't know he demanded a trade out of Jacksonville. I don't even think a win now team(which there are probably maybe 4-5 of them)would've given up much, mainly because as you brought up earlier, the CBA makes Draft Picks more valuable than before.
