You probably didn't like the news that came out yesterday that the NFL is thinking of implementing their own referee school whereby the old idea of officials coming from the NCAA after about 10 years will be cut down dramatically to something like 3-4 years of training/working in the NCAA then going straight to the NFL.

One of the issues that was brought up last night was that most of these guys were former amateur and lower level college referees who didn't call illegal contact down the field and other such seemingly "small" (but we know are critical in the pro game) penalties that caused a lot of the problems this past week.

Regardless I think Week 3 is the big one, if the scab officials go back to working like they did in Week 1 then I can the possibility of the real officals being forced to take a low ball offer from the league and come back when they've broken solidarity. If the officials are this bad again though the NFL will hustle to get a deal done with the pro guys.

I think it depends on the timing of a deal, and if the refs have actually done any training or are training in place of being locked out. Either way I expect in the next week or two for that 'we expect to use them by' date to get pushed out a few more weeks. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it took a couple/few weeks to finalize a deal and transition back to the old officials.

This past week Salsa master and Hakeem Nicks were the first two teammate WRs in NFL history to have 10(+) receptions and 175(+) yards in the same game; as they are 1st and 2nd in the league in receiving on the season; with Eli leading in passing. Feels good man.

After a very poor showing by the officials in the primetime monday night game, I have a feeling the NFL will start to cave into the refs.
Completely inconsistent is what is happening. You have a phantom PI call on the Broncos that extended a drive that led to a TD, and same contact by the Falcons on the Broncos WR's and no call.
Illegal contact and pass interference calls have been garbage this year and affecting games in a big way.

              Wow.

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy went on 94WIP in Philadelphia yesterday, and touched on how the refs tend to be intimidated and influenced by players and crowds. Not a surprise—this week, 14 of 16 home teams won their games. But he also gave an example of how the replacement refs seem more like contest winners than hardened employees.

"They're like fans, kind of though. I'll be honest, they're like fans. One of the refs was talking about his fantasy team, like ‘McCoy, come on, I need you for my fantasy [team].'"

The refs have been too fickle about giving out flags; pandering to players and crowd reactions.

“We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering more information,’’ the Falcons said in a statement.
I don't know why teams even bother to release these statements or why reporters bother to ask the teams for statements when they always say the exact same thing.

Yeah, especially since the NFL doesn't have a program where someone will drive you from wherever you are to wherever you're going.

Let’s start with the obvious: your odds of winning when trailing by 15 in the 4th quarter are really, really low. From 1994, the first season the two-point attempt was introduced to the NFL, to 2011, 68 teams have entered the 4th quarter trailing by exactly 15 points. Only one of those teams won. Over

Good article on why teams down 15 points in the 4th quarter should immediately go for 2 after scoring a touchdown.

I don't really care what his argument is, I'd much rather know early that I only have to get the ball back once and score than have to stop them, get it back, score, stop them again, then kick a field goal.

I now anticipate that you're going to throw a bunch of numbers at me because to you sports is like a chemistry class. Know that I won't read those numbers.

The basic argument is that it doesnt matter when you go for 2, you will still have to go for 2. So why not go for it as soon as possible.

The odds of making the 2 point conversion don't change depending on what point in the game you are at; in theory.
