I"m tellin' ya if Chip Kelly does this and gets Mariota he better hope like heck it works out or he'll be run out of town. One thing I noticed in watching the film room version of the National Championship is that Mariota can be confused by coverages and he opts out of the original play design when really, a little patience and he'd still be able to do what was called. Another issue someone brought up on another board I frequent is that Mariota has a slender frame and with his body type he could end up with injury issues taking big hits in the NFL.

Chip Kelly is certainly playing with fire but if there's anyone out there that would have the most success with Mariota it's him. It'll be interesting to see if this all comes to fruition.

Yea Tampa needs a QB bad and I cant see this getting done without Foles and atleast 1 or 2 future first round picks going. I do think Mariota would thrive in that offense.

In general, it's probably a good idea for a pro coach to leave his college QB alone.

I generally agree with you we've all seen what a reunion between coach and his college QB can lead to (no good) but Kelly's system is so particular that it might work. Again, I'm very doubtful as i've been on record saying that I don't think Mariota's got what it takes to be a top flight QB in the NFL.

I was just going off your post that they were trading with the Bucs to draft Mariotta. I don't think anyone has him as a number one pick.

Oh despite where I think either of the QB's should be drafted I still think anyone that wants either of them will have to trade up to number one anyway.

Brad Johnson admits paying $7500 to scuff footballs before the Bucs win over the Raiders in the Super Bowl.

Former Buccaneers quarterback Brad Johnson has admitted to paying a bribe to have the footballs tampered with before the 2003 Super Bowl.

                        Re: NFL Off Topic

Consensus seems to be that Winston has already demonstrated the attributes expected in NFL QBs, like throwing into tight windows, going through progressions and throwing his WRs open or anticipating separation.

Marietta plays in an offense where his main read often is wide open and defined right away so he hasn't exhibited the same traits.

But that's not to say he can't develop into that kind of player. Presumably if he's rated highly after the combine and workouts, it will be because he has the physical tools and the interviews will convince teams he can learn and run NFL offenses.

Maybe Kelly thinks he can always get WRs wide open like Mariotta was used to at Oregon so he wouldn't have to adapt much. Main thing Mariotta would have over Foles would be that he's more of a running threat so it should help their running game and therefore make the passing game much more effective as well?
