    Re: NFL Off Topic

Given his history, who thinks going to make it without another incident knowing that because of this he's 18+ months away from playing in an NFL regular season game again? He's 23, he'll be 25 before he's eligible to play again, that probably sounds like an eternity.

Amazing talent, just remarkably poor judgement.

So, with the fine for the crotch grab.. the NFL Shop sold a NFL Collage for $149.99 that included the picture of the crotch grab..

      They've since removed the image:

However, someone grabbed it before people started making a big deal about it online (from Reddit):

More NFL Hypocrisy. Lynch fined for the "HMD" his teammate fined for doing the same thing. League threatens to penalize the Seahawks 15 yards on a kick if he does it.....

But you can spend $150 and get a team photo from NFL.com with him doing the "HMD".

        Good job NFL.

I'm fairly certain "The League" had nothing to do with putting that collage together, so calling them out is kinda dumb.

How so? They are the ones that are selling it through a league approved site (their own). They may not have picked the images, but you mean there isn't a person on their staff that approves things that will be sold through NFL.com. If it was just through the seahawks team store different story. But the NFL is selling this.

Unlike other drugs, alcohol doesn't stay in your system very long either though. If he failed a test for alcohol and wasn't pulled over again or something like that, I'd say it's a bit more careless than we're thinking here. I would think I could have a beer or two today and take an alcohol test tomorrow and pass with flying colors.

My point was that it's incorrect to label this as "hypocrisy". It's far more likely that someone at or near the bottom of the NFL Properties food chain screwed up.

Almost certainly just a site merchandiser that made a bad decision which to feature for that promotion with Mounted Memories.

If they left it as-is I'd agree with the hypocrisy angle, they didn't so now it's just internet-driven outrage.

Of course they didn't leave it as is after people called them on it. The fact that it was ever there in the first place is the problem.

Yeah, it depends on how much he drank. If he got hammered drunk and was tested the next morning, he would probably still have traces of alcohol in his system.

I would also like to add that we don't typically hear about failed drug tests until some time after the test was administered.

I am not that familiar with the policy and testing procedures, was he subject to the same test during the offseason? That is could he be suspended for having alcohol in his system when he took a test in April?

There are a lot of questions I have on this matter.

I wouldn't mind there being a certain time period after a conviction where one can't do that, but for as long as you're in the league? Nah.
The new policy states that players remain in stage three for a minimum of 2 years, while the old policy was indefinite. So stay clean for two years and you are good.

My understanding is that his other violations put him in stage 3, there is not a separate stage for each type of violation. So his weed use put him in stage three, and that is why the hammer of justice came down on him for the alcohol thing. But I am not sure about that.

                            Exactly.

If they're so tight and overprotective of their image, it should've never got there at all.
