Sucks now but was worth the gamble IMO.

Not sure how I feel about Alcohol being a part of the Substance abuse program when his failures in the past were for drugs (weed). Having said that, if you are in the program and you know what you can and can't do. So in that vein I don't feel bad for him.

I saw something on Twitter a few hours ago that alcohol is only tested for him because of his DUI. Similar to the Matt Prater situation.

How long was he going to be subject to alcohol testing?

Prater's failed test happened three years after his DUI, so I would assume indefinitely.

And on top of what 55 said it's not additional testing, it's still the same procedures and timing as for all other players but alcohol is additionaly tested for when it's his turn.

He is in the program so he gets tested a lot more. I think once you are in the program you stay in it, but not completely sure on that.

Right, and that's a fair point but he's not being singled out anymore with alcohol testing because of the DUI.

That was my only point and I wanted to point it out.

I think it is kind of ridiculous though. He gets one DUI so he can't drink alcohol ever again as long as he's in the program(which from what you guys are saying it's really as long as he's in the NFL)?

Yeah I mean he knows what he can and can't do so it is his fault, but I think it's a bit much to not allow players to drink ever again after one charge. I wouldn't mind there being a certain time period after a conviction where one can't do that, but for as long as you're in the league? Nah.

People in stage 1 and stage 2 are able to do whatever they want as long as they keep their nose clean for a period of time (2 seasons / 24 months, whichever is less gets you out of stage 2).

He's earned his way to stage 3, his option is to give up being a player in the NFL if he wants all the freedom back that he's pissed (into a cup) away.

Barring anything unforeseen, I'd be surprised if anyone thinks he has a salvageable NFL career.
