    Re: NFL Off Topic

I was reading about this 'veterans combine' that the NFL has planned for March and noted that it is limited to 100 vets that the NFL gets to invite. Does anyone know if it's the teams that determine the players invited or if it's the NFL front office? Is there a list of players who have applied/asked to be invited?

EDIT - NM, did some digging and found some good info on it…will be interested to see what kind of players get invites to this thing. I guess I understand why they are doing it, but at the same time if a team is interested in a player can't they just do a private work out?

Have never really seen Lynch's personality outside of conferences/games. The video made me a fan.

Its mainly for those guys who bounce around or have only been on the practice squad. I don't think you will see a "veteran" show up. "Veteran" is someone who actually plays, not guys on the PS or getting spot on the active roster to be inactive on gameday.

Lots of players can stick around, but its tough if the only film you have is for preseason games. Then it takes good teams to keep a list of players they liked. Now they have a chance to see them and its not a workout for a single team where if you don't make it, no one else sees you.

Is it really going to matter much? No, but the NFL isn't creating a NFDL to develop borderline talent since college already does that.

Lynch/Gronkowski video was great. Wish he'd be more willing to show that personality through the mediums that we're exposed to him on a regular basis. Maybe we could have avoided all this nonsense over however long all this Lynch v. Media drama has been going on.

Not sure how you could compare the personality you can show on a late-night talk show playing a video game to the one you can show during an NFL press conference where you get fined for wearing the wrong hat.

Hmmm..I thought the playoff expansion for next year was a done deal, until I heard Goodell's remarks. Hopefully it doesn't go through.

A lot of players show their personality just fine during their official NFL related business.

Yup. Or Watt. Or Drew Brees. Or Peyton Manning. Or Darnell Dockett. Or Ray Lewis. Or whoever.

Here's the thing. It's a smart way of getting his name out there. I would bet more people in the US know who Marshawn Lynch is as opposed to JJ Watt or even Aaron Rodgers.

I don't know about that much, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Watt fan. Watt and Rodgers have crazy exposure compared to Lynch.

Did someone actually say that or are you saying this because Bettis is a first ballot guy? O-Linemen sometimes take a while to get in and honestly, this is a very packed class IMO. Pace will get in within 2-3 years.
