It's just showing out here in the Mountain Time Zone.. his opening was fantastic, and it's been a pretty solid show overall, so far.

Although, I thought the choice of music for the In Memoriam segment was kind of strange.

Still needs to be cut. Let some other team deal with his BS.

I happen to agree with him to an extent.

I would not word it quite as strongly as he did, but I also don't think he is HOF worthy.

I should note that I am very stingy when it comes to who I deem to be HOF worthy. It should be reserved for the best of the best, not the good for several years.

I'll stop now before I go off on a rant.

I don't see an appropriate thread for it so I'll newsdump here.

Aaron Rodgers is your NFL MVP. No surprise I suppose. Finished first with 31 votes. Watt was second with 13. Bobby Wagner got a random vote.

Maybe I am biased, but I think Mosley definitely should have won DROY.

And there is a good argument for JJ deserving MVP, though I think the right guy won it. A QB is the most valuable position in football (probably in all of sports). So yeah, a top QB will generally get the nod for MVP.

Pace will get in and there's no diminishing how great of a career he's had. I mean, other than Bettis you can't really swap out anyone else in favor of Pace.
Agreed. Bettis was fun to watch, so many great moments. The fact that he didn't get in earlier was absurd to me. 8 years with over 1,000 yards rushing (6 consecutive), 91 rushing TD's (94 total), 6 Pro Bowls, 5th ranked rusher all-time at the time of his retirement.

Pace not getting in is crazy. While I respect front office guys and understand their importance, the players are the ones who make the game, so I would've had no problem swapping out one of the front office guys for Pace. Absolutely insane that he's not in right now. Perhaps they should just have front office slots separate from player slots, because having a player like Pace snubbed is just criminal.

Thought the vote would have been closer between Rodgers/Watt.

                  Both deserved it.

Watt was the best player in football, hands down. He demonstrated that in every way a defensive player possibly can. He would've won had the Texans made the playoffs.

I wouldn't say he no doubt would have won, but he was the most dominant player in the league.

I expected the difference in votes between the two to only be 1-2 votes in all honesty, and I'm a Packer fan.

So I'll just address this, I was definitely speaking too strongly by saying it's not about who's more valuable than others etc etc but I think there's a good argument to be made that with football the whole "first ballot" argument is harder to make considering that there are so many positions that are unique to the jobs they have to do. In baseball you can make more of an apples to apples comparison because to accumulate offense as a position player you can quantitatively compare to each other. There are sliding scales to be accounted for positions because well, you don't expect SS to have the same kind of power of 1B.

In football a RB has to depend on the offensive line opening up holes to gain yardage and such. WRs and FB can't be compared. Same kind of situations crop up with defensive players. The problem with OL is that you have to really use the eye test and i'm not denying Pace's greatness. I thought he was a certified lock for the Hall this year but the committee obviously decided to right some wrongs (Tinglehof, Brown) and of course you have Seau and Bettis. (even if you guys don't think he's worthy. You know he was going to get the support for it)

I've a feeling that we'll see Pace and Warner in the same class down the road.

The voting disparity didn't surprise me, because the consensus idea is that if you don't make the playoffs you weren't that valuable. Not that I necessarily agree in all cases, but I don't necessarily disagree either, it really depends.

Some people point to O.J. winning in '73 on a non-playoff team, but doing something never done before that was considered impossible and doing it in only 14 games; the magnitude of that was such that it had to feel impossible for the voters not to vote O.J. for the award. For as good as Watt's season was, I don't think it quite stacks up to that kind of year where it could overcome the non-playoff situation.
