Im sorry but I think Denver screwed up hiring Kubiak. I meanwhat went into that interview?? Elway and Kubiak were buddies and im sure they were in contact with one another. That same damn "Good ole Boy" friendship and loyalty got Kubiak canned down here. There were people Kubiak just refused to remove from office or the field due to his "Relationship" with them. Looking at Kubiak's track record and its nothing to brag about.

Currently on the 7th alternate for the Pro Bowl at the QB position, lol.

Of the original six to be picked, only Andrew Luck and Tony Romo remain. Tom Brady’s busy this week and Peyton Manning, Ben Rosethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers took injury excuses.

First alternate Drew Brees will be in Arizona, but second Philip Rivers (injury) and third Russell Wilson (busy) took a pass. That allowed fourth and fifth alternates Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan to get in, before Flacco chose paternity leave to make way for Dalton.

Do all of those guys get a "Pro Bowl appearance" on their career resume?

NFL wants to use the Pro Bowl to fund pensions and benefits but who is buying tickets for that game?

            Ratings can't be great either?

The ratings aren't that great by the NFL's ridiculous standards. The Pro Bowl still beats out just about every MLB, NBA, or NHL playoff game.

I've never heard of the bold, where's that from? Google tells me that was a sticking point in the 70s (http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...g=1565,2710074) but haven't heard of any dust-ups recently related to that.

Pension payments are static, and not funding them would be much bigger news.
The NFL is an organization that rewards the number of active seasons in both their pension and 401k plan. The pension, which players become eligible for at age 55, gives them $470/month for each season they played. A player with 4 seasons would get $1880/month starting at age 55, for the rest of their life. But most of them stop playing long before that, and inflation is eating away the value of those pension dollars with each passing year.

The 401k is structured more generously. After their second season, players can received 2:1 matching up to $24,000 until 2014, and $28,000 after that until 2020. Without careful money management, they still might come up short of the goal and miss their contributions. Though most of us aren’t playing in the big leagues, we share a lot of the same challenges as our favorite athletes.

Montana got benched as well in the latter two games. That's the problem with building legends around players based on their playoff performances. We only remember what we want to remember.
Eh. Nobody can win'em all, not even General Joe. But his wins in the postseason were big enough to more than justify the playoff legacy he built, that's why nobody thinks about those few games where things went bad. They were aberrations, whereas with guys like Peyton Manning things going wrong in the postseason happened more often than not which is why people remember those more than the games he won.

I've heard of NFL preseason games doing better numbers than the World Series and one claim was that one of the World Series games was a game 7.

If that's true, that's just brutal. But I think SNF is still the highest rated show on TV so it's pretty solid proof of just how crazy this country is about football.

He did have what should have been a long TD early in the game, but Rice dropped it. People forget as well that the GOAT had the dropsies early in his career.

Walsh did turn to Young for a spark in the Vikings game. That's still one of my most painful losses as a fan.

Good info man, I kinda wish we had a thread for old football stories, SPTO would be awesome in such a thread.

Backup QB Tyler Bray tore his ACL in an accident at home is why the Chiefs signed Pryor.

So Chip Kelly is looking into all options to trade up For Mariota. Im guessing if they work this out, Tampa is going to want Foles and picks. However, Im not sure if hes a lock at #1

How would he not be a lock at number 1 if that's who they are trading up to get?
