Re: NFL Off Topic
lol, ESPN reporting is getting worse and worse. They have an article up talking about how the Broncos are now "Americas team" based on a poll some other site did. The problem.......just over half the people polled weren't even NFL fans, and the total people polled wasn't even 3,000 people.
Not saying Broncos aren't popular, or even the most popular team in America, but just funny seeing something like that coming out of ESPN, claiming something like that, while using data from a survey that didn't even have 3,000 people(or even 2000 NFL fans).
I wonder what the actual results would be if NFL or something ran a survey on their website and got millions of votes. What the exact order would be in terms of who's #1,2,3,4,5 and stuff.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide

Re: NFL Off Topic
My only point is that a Harris Poll which generally is very good about selecting the demographics of it's sample size would give far better results than any poll ESPN can put out there.
I think "America's Team" has always been a dumb term and would never agree with anyone who says the Broncos are it.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Honestly can't tell if this is sarcasm or not because I wouldn't necessarily agree that 2500 people is a fair representation especially considering that half of them admitted to not even following the NFL.

2,500 (randomly selected) people would be above and beyond the acceptable number of people needed to represent the opinions of the USA's population.
edit: just looked it up online, the minimum acceptable number for a population of 350,000,000 (ballparking), using a confidence level of 95%, with a margin of error of 3%, is 1068.Last edited by gopher_guy; 10-15-2014, 01:21 AM.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: NFL Off Topic
Why does there have to be a new "Americas Team"? I mean it was just a nickname for Dallas, not some award. Otherwise I guess the Super Bowl Champs every year are Americas team. Besides that, I'd have to say Dallas even being rather irrelevant for 15 years is still one of the most popular, hated, and talked about.Gators|Cowboys|Lightning|Rays|Tottenham Hotspur

I don't fully agree with that. I wouldn't like it if somebody on the Steelers was doing that to Bengals players with known lower leg injuries, but at the same time it wouldn't surprise me. It's football. Giving a little twist of the ankle isn't nearly as bad as what I've heard goes on at the bottom of a fumble pile. I don't condone what Burfict did at all but it's only known to the world because some players spoke up about it and social media got a hold of it. Guarantee you he's not the first player in the NFL this season to give the lower leg of an opponent with a known injury an extra twist. He's just an all-pro and was accused of playing dirty at ASU. Any other guy does it and we probably wouldn't hear much about it. Now it will not surprise me if this isn't the last time we hear it happening this year with a player.
Maybe Nugent missed that FG in OT because he slipped on wet turf caused by all of the Panthers crying over what Burfict did.
