I hope Sam gets drafted, and has a Hall of Fame career. I know that's a long shot, but everyone is acting like now that he's open about it, his play on the field is going to diminish. Dude still won SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

It's just inevitable you have people who don't accept Sam for tier own personal beliefs. The guy drawing up this 'bill' might be doing it for his own gain from his district voters.

Words don't matter to me, though, it's a bunch of grown adults playing a game. I'm not going to act like I don't say stuff people don't find offensive on a daily basis. Could not care less about what's said on the field.

So taunting is unacceptable but you don't care about hateful speech? Got it

Is it even legal to do something like that by passing legislation? NFL isn't owned by the government

        Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
        NCAA: SMU, UTA
        NFL: Dallas Cowboys

Don't put flags in the game for language. If you think you can match up words to a person, and build up a case with witnesses etc and want to fine them, then go for it, but please do not add any more stupid non-football related flags.

Do you mean "hate speech" or just hateful speech. Hate speech typically revolves around a handful of well known words. Hateful speech can be expressed by anybody with a thesaurus and some contempt in their voice. Although I do quite enjoy the thought of Shakespearean trash talk battles by NFL players.

I have nothing against Sam and I agree with you but he looked awful stiff today at the Combine. If the move him to LB he may have trouble dropping into coverage. He looked great moving downhill, but backpedals and moving side to side he struggled.

I believe for him to be successful early on they need to keep him as a pass rusher and slowly work on him dropping in coverage.

"Use profanity, insulting or vulgar language or gestures" is already a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and was being called last season.

The surprising thing to me is they want a second offense in a game to be an ejection. They already don't throw players out who are flagged for throwing a punch, just don't see someone getting ejected for verbal unsportsmanlike conduct.

Since the NFL is now in the business of regulating language, I hope that they get rid of that hateful Redskins name.

If you want to call it "hateful speech" (which I disagree with), then yes. That is my viewpoint exactly.

NFL is entertainment. I care what the guys say and do about the same way I do Hollywood actors.

They might as well start giving games ratings such as Rated R or TV-MA/PG from now on.

I guess I view taunting as less severe than racial/religious/ethnic/homophobic slurs.

I don't think taunting or excessive celebration should be flagged.
