Re: NFL Off Topic
On or shortly before March 6, the day that Tom Brady met with independent investigator Ted Wells and his colleagues, Brady directed that the cell phone he had used for the prior four months be destroyed. He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone. During the four months that the cell phone was in use, Brady had exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages, none of which can now be retrieved from that device. The destruction of the cell phone was not disclosed until June 18, almost four months after the investigators had first sought electronic information from Brady.Proud member of the OS Bills Backers.

As an ardent Tom Brady fan:
I wouldn't have turned over the phone either (they have authority to compel him to hand it over), but I certainly would not have destroyed it. I wonder how they found out he destroyed his phone. All things set aside, that single fact changes everything.
My guess is this will go to court now, the NFL would capitulate and it will be overturned; NFL wanted to save face and upheld their ruling. That said, New England should suspend Brady as a show of good faith.
After this season, when there is a year of games to evaluate how astmospherics change the inflation of the ball, I wholly expect the findings -- that balls deflate naturally throughout the course of a game -- to exonerate NE. But it won't matter. Sports media long ago turned Joe Public against them and nothing short of "NFL clears Patriots of all wrongdoing; admits its understanding of game ball physics was flawed" as a breaking headline would change that... a lot of which they've (Patriots) brought on themselves. Oh well. The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Well that just shows Brady was guilty as sin. I mean there's NO WAY one can justify him destroying his phone when he KNEW investigators would ask for it.
He may be one of the best of all time on the field but this is a huge blow to his image unless you're already a brainwashed Patriots/Brady zealot.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NFL Off Topic
Maybe he can sue for having an incompetent defense. NFLPA didn't even call the assistants as witnesses in his defense... Unless they knew they'd do more harm than good.
Not even sure what approach they would take legally. Would have to be some procedural CBA thing. Hard to argue Brady cooperated sufficiently.
It's noted in the report Brady didn't destroy his prior phone.Comment

And the PA is ready and waiting for Brady approval.Comment

The PA may have a point on those merits but man, the PR backlash makes it almost not worth the fight.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NFL Off Topic
As if it's up to Tom to decide what the case will be made about. Destroying the potentially incriminating cell phone while lying about destroying previous cell phones only strengthens the NFL case, which really doesn't need to be all that strong to hold up anyways. I imagine that will be a difficult hurdle to overcome.NFL: Bills

Should have just confirmed what he knew, provided selected texts and faced the punishment.
Probably what he wished he did.Comment

Brady destroying phones for security reasons should surprise no one. Smart for a man of his status. I think he is a victim of bad timing. If NFL had asked sooner he would have gladly handed over his phone.
Tom Brady is the real victim here. Not the cell phone. My hope is that our court system does not let us down.Comment
