I thoroughly enjoy listening to Mike Mayock (colour) call a game.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I miss Mayock doing Notre Dame games. Doug Flutie adds NOTHING to the booth. It's going to be a real challenge watching their games on NBC.

Is there decent money in high school coaching?

I think it depends on state, division, and team. So a guy in D3 Mass is going to paid a lot less than a guy coaching the defending state champion in Texas.

So are TNF games on CBS the first half of the season like last year?

Listing says CBS/NFL Network. Not sure if it's just CBS affiliate for local and NFLN for the rest of us or what...

I assume it's like last year, if not all year. I just looked on my guide and it shows the game on both channels this Thursday night. I'm in Houston, fwiw.

                  Re: NFL Off Topic

Google says they're doing the same thing as last year: Week 2-8 are on CBS nationally and simulcast on NFLN, then NFLN take over the last half of the season exclusively.

I think that's really stupid, but whatever.

I also think there not being a doubleheader on both CBS and FOX every week (or at least early season) is dumb too. I bet an NFL game between the two worst teams pulls in better ratings then whatever crap they air in the 1 or 4 PM spot on either channel.

It's always all about the money, except when it's not.

Has anyone ever appealed only to get their fine/sentence augmented? I wish this ended up being a case like that.

Brett Favre and Terrell Owens are among the first-year nominees for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tough call, so many great players but I've never been very good at differentiating "hall of fame" from "hall of very good".

It's also really sad that I'm starting to notice names and thinking "he was a 99 on Madden" as if that's part of his credentials
