It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Ehhh. Tomlin came up as a 4-3 Tampa 2 guy.

Certainly, he approves of the scheme but it is an offshoot of Lebeau's defense.

I don't think there is any serious talk anywhere of him being on the hot seat. If they disappoint and miss the playoffs this season, there may be grumblings here and there, but it would take another sub .500 effort next season for his seat to even get warm.

Sorry for the double post but I have a random but related question just enter my mind.

When was the last time a coach won their first SB with a team after their 4th or so year with that team? How often does that happen?

I ask because I was thinking to myself about the debate regarding whether it is wise to make a coaching change just for the sake of change. But without looking anything up, I wanna say the recent SB winning coaches were relatively new hires at the time they won.

Chiefs long snapper James Winchester's father was killed in a shooting at Will Rogers Airport in OKC today. Damn.

And the Jeff Fisher march to 8-8 or worse is in full swing, with a new excuse to buy him a another two seasons at the helm...What a righteous hustler.

Speaking of the Steelers' coaching carousel or lack thereof... there seems to be a big dearth of coaching talent in the league at the moment. In fact, out of all 32 teams, only 3 are sure bets for the foreseeable future: Tomlin, Belichick, & Pete Carroll.

The league has a lot of coaches with good reputations on bad teams (Hugh Jackson, John Fox), some decent coaches on overachieving squads (Jack Del Rio, Gary Kubiak) great coaches that are currently mired in mediocrity (Andy Reid, Mike McCarthy, Bruce Arians, John Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Ron Rivera), former coordinators that are lame-ducking it (Gus Bradley, Dan Quinn, Bill O'Brien), and a bunch of bad, mediocre coaches that keep getting employed (Jeff Fisher, Chip Kelly, Rex Ryan, Chuck Pagano) along with the rest of the coaches that inspire a response of "meh" at best.

If you listen to Colin Cowherd every Monday Tomlin should be. He takes a few shots at them every week. Some things I think are valid (very little success with an entrenched player like Big Ben at QB), other are Cowherd being Cowherd, calls the team undisciplined still uses the Ravens sideline thing as a reference point....

It will be interesting to see how long he stays there and what they do at QB when Big Ben is gone. As a defensive guy, I could see them going for an offensive mind when they retool the QB position.

I know Andy Reid takes a lot of flak, especially for late game management (and he should), but I still think of him as a top coach. He hasn't gotten enough credit, IMO, for making the Chief's competitive again.
