The work he did in communities and donations made in his name go against the idea that he's only in it for superficial reasons. I don't agree with him not voting either but it doesn't invalidate everything else he does. If a dude works 9 out of 10 days and then gets sick on Friday, he still deserves his paycheck.

NFL Off Topic
My personal thoughts on this whole thing:
Spoiler
Personally, the only thing I'm certain of is him not standing is playing a significant factor in nobody even wanting to meet with him because they're afraid of that fan backlash and it'd be real naive if people think it's not playing a factor at all(which would also say something about that person and how they feel about certain topics).
Like I mentioned, Kenny Stills didn't stand all year and didn't make any promises for this year either yet he got paid more money this offseason.
Question, for those saying he's not good enough to be a backup, what were they saying about Michael Vick after he got out of prison for killing some dogs and then got signed by the Eagles? What's the difference between these 2?
I also remember seeing reports that were saying he supposedly didn't care about Football and was more concerned with social issues than training in the offseason. Nobody said anything to even try and debunk those rumors(which nobody knows how that rumor started in the first place)yet as soon as people say "he's being blackballed from the league because he didn't stand", then everyone comes out the blue with the "Well actually, he's not signed because his QBR was blah, blah, blah".
Another funny thing to me is that we all acknowledge there are only 14-16(maybe less depending on who you ask)good starting caliber QBs, but when it comes to QB2/3, we want to act like there are standards all of a sudden to be that? Lol, there are QBs out there that aren't good enough to be even be backup QBs and we all know that, yet people want to say with "certainty" that he's not good enough to be a backup.
I know uber mentioned that if we were to trade our backup QB, he'd take him in GB. Let's be real, the people that live in GB(let's not be naive, it's about 95% white and 5% Black with half of that percentage on the team)would lose their ****ing mind if they were to bring in THIS guy. Anybody else with his numbers, the fans would be like "Oh, we got ourselves a good backup in case Rodgers goes down). He'd get crapped on by his own fans way worse than Rodgers did in his first year starting.
At the end of the day, I'm not losing any sleep if he doesn't get another opportunity to start again. But we also need to stop lying to ourselves if we think it's all Football reasons that keeping him from getting as much as an interview so far.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Well, when it comes to Sports, it's pretty much hard to separate PR from Performance, especially with Owners being more cautious now. But that's a whole other discussion in itself.
A few years ago, you'd take the PR hit, no matter how bad it was, if you could play.

Agreed. I think the protest is playing a role in Kap still being unsigned, but it's one of several factors. I'm not sure why everyone (not necessarily on OS) thinks it has to be one reason.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Well I think its pretty simple. If he had never knelt during the anthem and had kept his mouth shut about the issues he's discussed, he'd have a job. Yes, if Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady did a protest that was just as controversial, they'd still have jobs since they are much better players so technically its not the only factor. But its the one that matters.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I think the "he doesn't care about football" talk came out from SF from something John Lynch said after him and Shanahan met with Kaep to basically let him know he was getting released. Lynch came out and followed those comments up with clarifying statements, but the damage was already done.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

In my opinion this is what everything hinges on. His jerseys are leading sales so there's obvious support for him in addition to the critics.
*Per B/R headline that referenced his jersey sales*
I disagree you can say with certainty that if he wasn't polarizing that he'd have a job.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

If he was offered a contract but declined, we'd know by now.
Stuff like that is impossible to keep secret from the Media, regardless of who it involves.

You'd have to them why they're so certain.

Is he worse than most back ups? Nah, that's going too far. But it's not a new thing that a veteran QB who thinks he's better than most starters has trouble finding back up jobs. Just because he's better than most doesn't mean he's a better fit on most teams for that role. GB would be one of the exceptions, but (as you so eloquently put it) probably isn't likely because of the reasons we are discussing. That's a guess, and we can guess at others but I don't believe that's universal by any stretch. I really believe it's a combination.
As for Vick, plain and simple, he was a better QB when he left the league than Kaep has ever been. He was borderline the face of the NFL.
I think a better comparison on the back up talk is RG3 who's also still looking for a job.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Do we know what he's looking for? I know that one media report has been false.
I'm down with saying it's all about the social stance if there's something saying he was willing to join a team at a reasonable backup rate.
I have my bias I think money is driving it moreso than anything else.
