Re: NFL Off Topic
Was Weeden signed to actually play in a game tho? Or is he just there to fill a short term roster spot? No team is gonna sign Kap in that role and deal with that media circus.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I don't buy it as collusion. Owners may individually be against signing him, but I doubt there was ever any organized movement.
Also given this logic, any unsigned free agent could claim collusion. Ray Rice would have as good a case as anyone.
Lastly, as the article states, he's the one who opted out of the contract. That makes it hard to justify collusion as the reason he doesn't have a contract.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
If he were a star, he'd still have a job. He'd still be a 49er. As it is, he is probably better than some of the lower tier starting quarterbacks in the league, though.Last edited by superjames1992; 10-15-2017, 09:25 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Even in 2011 and 2012 where we finally had improved the defense and still had the offensive pieces, both years were WRECKED with injuries too. Remember that the 2011-12 season was finished with TJ Yates at the helm because Schaub got his foot (and career) ruined by that fat piecea**** Albert Haynesworth and then Leinart got hurt after that too.
It's just.....it's hard. And we lost Dylan Cole today too. UDFA who was absolutely killing it and basically became the new DeMeco/Cushing.Comment

Each owner individually decided it wasn't worth the headache. It would be a very tough argument to say that all the owners met in their secret tree clubhouse and agreed that no one will sign him.Comment

Could they be heading for a severe rough patch? Ben will probably retire, Bryant wants out, and maybe its just wishful thinking but I get the impression that Bell may try to book it also.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
The Steelers are definitely staring at a very rough transition period in the face and I don't envy the position Tomlin is in. I believe this would be his first 100% change in team identity. I know a couple or so years ago there was a changeover in defensive personnel and an overall change in offensive philosophy but this seems like they're going to lose a HOF caliber QB, A superstar WR who will whine his way out of town and I wouldn't doubt Bell thinking of hitting the road as well.
As to the Kaepernick situation, It definitely isn't collusion in the traditional sense unless he has proof that the owners all agreed together to not sign him but you can't tell me that there's a concerted effort to keep him out. The guy isn't the worst QB in the world. Yes, he comes with a lot of baggage but I think a LOT of people forget the original intent of what he did and completely forgot that he started doing his anthem thing during the Obama administration. It wasn't some hate on for the flag or military like it's been blown up to be. (sorry if some of this goes beyond the TOS but i'm adding context as to why Kaep not being signed is completely unfair to him) It will be interesting to see if he has some kind of proof other than what many unbiased people can see clear as day by simply connecting the dots.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NFL Off Topic
That is what I was saying, he is unsigned due to the media attention that would come with it, not because he isn't a good QB. Teams sign bad QBs all the time.

Re: NFL Off Topic
That surprised me. Apparently the request was made a few weeks ago and indications are that the Steelers do not intend to oblige him.

Going to be a whole new team without Ben, Bryant and possibly Bell.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I agree with you and SPTO. I don't expect them to give Bryant another contract or they'll deal him in the offseason/draft. Bell seems to want 15-20mil a year, some team will pay him if the Steelers don't.
